Several weeks ago Google+ silently changed the default sharing level on my #Project365 posts to "only me". It's fixed now, and I will add future #Project365 posts to my Project 365 collection: https://plus.google.com/collection/8N13SB

This week: Zen's health scare and snow that won't melt.

Life So many things were disrupted this week that I don’t know where to start. I’ll start with the most important: despite a health scare, Zen is okay. On Thursday morning, Zen started to show signs of discomfort due to constipation, and by the early…

Zen didn’t get up to say goodbye as I was heading to the airport, but that’s okay. She has a new hiding place: right in front of the register, underneath the nesting tables.  I tried to move the tables and put her bed there, but she just folded herself up…

This week: I wrote words but 💩 would suffice.

Life If my life could be summed up in one emoji this week, it’d be 💩. I have been on hyper-vigilant poop watch for Zen, fretting over her lack of bowel movements, convinced that she would land back in the hospital. But Friday was a breakthrough day for…

What I've been up to this week: surviving another ice storm, lots of work, even some writing!

Life Hello from the midst of another Portland ice-pocalypse! FunkyPlaid and I have a fire going in the fireplace and still have power, but the sidewalks and roads are covered with ice. Now that I have somewhat recovered from last year’s Project 365, I…

A tiny tree sits next to a pine-scented candle, and it is drizzling outside. Zen wanders through the house, pausing to express her displeasure at all of the chilly corners that lack FunkyPlaid’s presence. But soon he will be coming home, and we’ll all be…

I had lofty goals to come home and get all of my chores done and pack and take a nice hot bath with custom-made bath salts that a friend gave me … and then I was delayed at work, and all that melted like so much Portland snow. I’m still packing! But in…

Simply put, this is my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. The food, service, and ambience are all outstanding. Most dishes are naturally gluten-free -- a boon for those of us who have to worry about that sort of thing -- and the staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. Wonderful.

I cannot recommend Dolly & Mop highly enough! Laura is an absolute gem, and she has created a warm and lovely respite from the stressors of the world outside. I visit regularly to have my eyebrows shaped and my hair cut, and have never had anything less than an excellent experience here.
