Last week, we had the honor of presenting Daenesha Caldwell with the keys to her new #Habitat home in Long Beach.  Daenesha thought this day would never come and was in a state of disbelief even as we handed her the keys!  She and her family moved in the very next day and we could not be happier for them.  Congratulations on your new home!

Another smile has been put on a family's face!

On Monday morning I was thrilled to give the Silerio family the news they’ve been longing for, that their escrow was closing!  Mrs. Silerio answered the phone very excitedly, and before I could say anything, she said, "I hope this is the call I have been waiting for every day." I replied, "Well, it depends.  If you were waiting for the call saying your are new homeowners, then yes, this is the call!" Later that afternoon I met with the Silerio family and handed them the keys to their new home.   Mr. and Mrs. Silerio were so excited about planning how they are going to decorate their house and trying to decide which room to give each of their children.

Congratulations to the Silerio Family!

The Trinidad family received the keys to their new home in Long Beach on Friday.  Mr. Trinidad wasn’t able to sleep a wink on Thursday night just knowing that he would be in his new home in the morning. The entire family wore their green partner homeowner t-shirts as they started this new chapter in their lives.  Mrs. Trinidad said they wear the T-shirts all the time because she enjoys when people ask about Habitat for Humanity and likes that she is able to share her great story and experience with other people.

This week a group of students from Fisher College in Boston, Massachusetts are spending their spring break here helping us build homes in Lynwood. The students danced and sang along to the radio songs as they worked. They laughed and joked around, without any regards to the Southern California heat. They seemed to be having so much fun it didn’t even seem like work. Working hard or hardly working?

Several of the students said they couldn’t be happier to be here working and helping others. Some also expressed a desire to come back again next year. Thank you so much Fisher College and the volunteers that came out to help. Hopefully we’ll see you next year.
