Savannah, our resident Serval Cat, seen grooming herself.
Savannah as been part of the HESC family since 2013, after a family brought to her HESC. They had tried to hand raise her after rescuing her, and found her to be much wilder than they had anticipated.
Unfortunately she is too domesticated to be released, as she will also seek attention from humans, which presents a threat to her wellbeing.

Recently, we had a visit from David Louw and Christel Van den Bergh from "Getroud met Rugby", a popular local South African TV series.
They came to learn more about the work that we do at our centre :-)
Seen in this picture with our assistant manager, Jeanre Brooks and assistant curator, Juandrey Symons

HESC offers a payable Volunteer programme, which focuses on conservation, and allows the participants to get their hands dirty for conservation.
Jemma Lumsden came all the way from Australia to join us for our 3 week experience, and made this wonderful video montage of her memories at Wildlife Conservation Experience.

Tatiana and Marcelo Ferreira from Brazil, have been solid supporters of HESC, since their first visit.
They fell in love with Olivia, who was brought into our care in April 2016, after being found next to her mothers dead body, lost to poachers. And so they decided to . foster Olivia.
We were blown away, when they gave us the news that they were going to write a children's book about Olivia's story, to raise awareness about the seriousness of rhino poaching.
This is a little teaser they sent, as we wait for the physical copy to arrive :-)
THANK YOU Tatiana and Marcelo, as well as your family, for all the support you have given to Olivia, and to HESC

Dr. Evan Antin came to visit us at HESC!
This famous vet from the USA, has visited us once before, and has returned to our centre during his visit to South Africa.
Dr. Evan Antin had also spent some time with Wildlife vet Peter Stewart Rogers on his last trip, so we go the two together again at HESC, as Doc has some DNA testing to do on some cheetahs.
