Handy tip for Raspberry Pi users

Having had two new Pi's turn up today, one of which will be the new upstairs media box to replace a chipped XBOX1, I need to copy the existing downstairs media Pi SD card to another one.

The new card though is smaller than 4GB so the handy tip for the day is...

Use the extremely useful gparted (Linux) GUI app which will let you resize down your 4GB partitions to something smaller. In this case I shrunk the storage partition down to fit the lot into 1GB. Using OpenElec XBMC here.

Gparted is easy to use (make sure to run as root) and, of course, free.
