Let's set this straight - you need barre chords, if you want to be able to play some cool songs from the internet you will need to master them, but today we will try to make our life a little simpler. Lets have a look at something called Fmaj7.

It is a really good overdrive, not too muddy in the bass and quite transparent. The only thing is that if you stack it together with another overdrive, it may get quite noisy. Highly recommended, sounds awesome.

A new Strumming Secrets module is available for Guitar Couch Members.

This module builds on top of the strumming techniques that we learned in the Strumming Secrets 5 module. It is amazing to see how small alterations and additions to familiar strumming rhythms can shed more light on them.

Combining the chord D with Dsus2 & Dsus4 into cool melodic lines

Now after you have practiced Dsus2 and Dsus 4 in isolation, we can combine them to create longer melodic lines. You can hear these voicings in a lot of songs. Think about creating music as experimenting with sound and try to see what you can come up with. Experiment with these chords and see how they feel and sound with the other chords that you know.

It might be an unusual guitar chord, scale or rhythm. The idea is to get out of your usual comfort zone and do something challenging. I do it every day!

Let’s expand our suspended chords library by adding another cool sounding guitar chord - Dsus4.

You can create this chord by simply adding your little 4th finger on the 3rd fret 1st string whilst holding the D chord.
How do you like it? Remember, application is important, apply everything you are learning to your music and songs that you know.

As usual, try to use it with some strumming and arpeggios.
