I'm looking at two contradictory studies. http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/04/10/twitter-and-facebook-wield-little-influence-on-tv-watching/?_php=true&_type=blogs&smid=tw-share&_r=0 and the link below. The question-- does Twitter drive TV tune-in at all? I know for me, it has a few times, when my feed was completely full of a TV event everyone was buzzing about, but I know it's not also the place I regularly look for programming recommendations.

I love you, Google+. I'm one of the small, passionate contingents who love the design of this platform. I agree with the article that Google won't kill the product, this is after all their single sign-on solution. I'm sure it will change though.
Google has not, and probably will never, announce that Google+ will be "sunsetted" (the company's favorite euphemism for killed off). But the Internet giant might as well have this week when the guy who has been running Google+ since day on...

Google+ is great and we see it used extensively by our fans who are too young to be on Facebook.  Lots of sharing, groups, and hangouts.

There's always good Canadian digital market information in these reports. One shocking stat in this one for me was, "In 2013, more than 615 billion display ad impressions were delivered in Canada during the year." That's over 17,000 ads online Canadians see each year, or nearly 50 per day. That is a lot of noise.

The report also says that 1/2 of the ads weren't viewable. Guessing both due to ad blockers and ads that load on parts of the page that users don't scroll to.

We've seen TV series come out first (or exclusively) on Netflix, now it's time for a big movie to premiere on Netflix first. HT +Allen Martin
It's no secret that Netflix has flirted with the idea of footing the bill for "big" movie releases in the past, but now we're finally seeing what that actually means. Next August, the sequel to 2000's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will be hitting Netflix and (select) IMAX theaters simultaneously. Other theaters be damned.

A nice spot to catch independent films or movies that have been released for a little while. This place is very inexpensive, both for ticket price and concessions; it has some of the best popcorn I've had! A few drawbacks are: show times are limited, concession stand doesn't stay open all evening and the seating isn't stadium, so you can have limited view if a tall person sits in front of you. But, can't beat the price and it's got a great atmosphere.

A good indoor beach volleyball venue, very brightly lit (but not so much so that it's tough to play volleyball under), multiple courts to choose from. I've never used their outdoor courts, but they have those too. There's a snack bar, with a limited selection of beverages and junk food, I would like if they had a wider variety of stuff, but that's not a big deal. My main complaint is it smells not so great. It's a sports facility, so not a surprise, but some other, similar venues don't have that issue, I think they need better ventilation here. Still, it's a good indoor venue, good, friendly staff.

A great spot in Leslieville for parents and caregivers with young children. Usually filled with babies and preschoolers, it's a great stop for coffee, tea and light snacks, or to take one of the many workshops they hold. Sometimes quieter in the morning, if you're looking for that. I love their blueberry scones and coconut tea.
