I am retracting a favorable review that I left for Guaranteed Comfort and Energy out of Collinsville IL . The owner is Jim Fleming. Jim is a very good salesman and knowledgeable about his trade. It is his business ethics that is at issue. Bottom Line is to be very careful if you are going to deal with this company. I had Jim come over to my house to give me a quote for a replacement outdated A/C unit that was having a hard time cooling my house. I agreed to a sweet talking man who sold me on a Trane Heat pump and a rebuild of my existing furnace at the cost of 7000.00 along with a bunch of promises that had to be worked out latter of which some he fixed and others he tried to break the bank on. Here is a list of what went on. First Day no show due to vehicle breaking down, I Lost a day of vacation to be there. Next day Installed unit in the rain, hmm big red flag. After install came the final inspection from JIM. He was not happy with the way the technicians installed a cold return air. He calls the installer and told them to come out the next day to correct. They did. A couple days later I noticed that I did not receive a new electrical disconnect as promised nor did I get a complete new A/C line set. Instead I got a mixture of new and old line set because they felt it better not to disturb the concrete in which the old lines went thru. After a complete loss of Freon and a resolder of the joint I was assured it would not leak again. They did replace the old disconnect with a new one. The reason for the old one was better left alone because of the rain. A couple months later the upstairs and the down stairs was off by 12 to 15 degrees. The new air return was going to fix that. No problem they came out again and put baffles in the duct work to balance out the house. This worked great in summer but come winter and the house is still unbalanced and to date is still that way. I gave up on this. Had a new 600.00 smart thermostat that needed new firmware but had no way to update it because it did not come with a 20.00 memory card. They gave me a new memory card no cost. A new high dollar smart blower motor that was replaced in the heater is running so fast that it is hard to hear TV. They determined it was bad and replaced it after pulling it out and in about 6 times. Now a year later it is making a new loud noise and that was going to cost me 800.00 for a replacement of the squirrel cage. For the money I spent it should have come as a replacement when they did the original install. Today I still wonder how it got out of balance. After all it was only pulled in and out about 6 times. Cost me 70.00 to hear about that. I told Jim no thanks. I bought a brand new one from York and replaced it myself in 30 minutes for a total cost of 79.00. While i was in there I noticed how the technicians ran the new wires from motor into a panel that eventually would have shorted out. I called and they did come out again and fixed it. I was told I would get a rebate for my electric bills for the next 12 months after 4 months I started to make calls and on the sixth month eventually they did get that straighten out. Now the straw that made me retract my great review. The heat pump dies in December 2014 it is 18 months old. A high pressure line explodes they come out and again I am bent over when I was told it would cost about 1100.00 to resolder a line and refill with Freon. I asked about how many hours we are talking about and was told between 2 and 3 hours. But I get a break and they will do it for 600. I am not going to pay them 200 or 300 an hour to fix a factory defect. I did get to pay another 70.00 for their time.

Brian, from Guaranteed Comfort and Energy came out to my house today to service my two furnace units. He was very friendly, very thorough, and even resolved a problem with one of the units. He serviced my air conditioner units back in the summer and did a great job then as well! I trust Guaranteed Comfort and Energy to do a great job right the first time and with friendly, professional, and exceptional service. If I ever need work in the future, I will not hesitate to call them first. Thank you! -Jeff

We had an exceptional experience with this outfit and Jim (owner) certainly honors his word on all your expectations. We couldn't have asked for nicer, more professional and respectful technicians. AND, we want to include their newest member, Donell Lewis, who is in training and will also be an added plus to their enterprise. These guys went above and beyond anything we imagined and would recommend this company to all serious energy savers out there. Chris should go into teaching!!

This is a tough review to write, as there was a lot that I liked about this organization, but there were also a number of challenges. I will do my best to articulate my experiences. Cost. Overall, this organization charges a healthy price for their work. While I don't mind paying a good price, I do expect a certain level of service for paying top dollar. Communication is definitely not this organization's strong suite. There was some follow up work that needed to be done, and rather than them being pro-active, it required us to call them and get on their schedule. There were two follow up issues that required their attention. On both occasions, they put forth a solid effort to rectify the issues, and ultimately, I was pleased. One of the issues was pretty major, and while they did fix it, it caused us to endure a lot of trouble and mess in our home. I was rather disappointed that we didn't receive a proactive call from management to apologize and check in. As I said, they did make it right, but it really caused me to do extra work that wasn't anticipated or appreciated. In the meantime, I did have them provide me a quote for another product, and found that they were significantly higher than another, professional contractor. So, they didn't win this business, but I am open to having them bid additional work in my home. On a very positive front, the employees of this organization are extremely polite and conscientious. It is nice to have a professional presence when someone is working in your home. Energy savings. With the insulating and sealing, we have seen a sizable decrease in our energy usage. In this area, we are extremely pleased. I am pleased with the overall quality of work, and the fact that they made sure that I was satisfied with the end result. If they would be more proactive in their communication, and would have reached out as we dealt with a few 'issues,' I think they would have been worthy of a higher rating. Would I / will I do business with them again? Yes, they will be invited out to quote additional work that we may need in the future.

BUYER BEWARE: We called Guaranteed out to check our carbon monoxied level as our alarm had gone off when we ran our boiler heating unit. The service tech shows up and says the reading is the highest he has ever seen at 4000 parts per million. Not once when the service guy was there did our CM alarm go off. Next, the service guy said there was nothing he could do to fix the unit. Then he said he would leave a list of options for fixing the unit. Then he said it would cost thousands to fix it. He then said he had to call his boss. The owner Jim came out to look at our boiler. First thing he said was I am glad we didn't read about you in the paper. Started putting the scare into us about carbon monoxied. He then explained he couldn't track down the comapny name on the unit. He said the company must have only been in business a couple years. The boiler is an Edwards, the biggest boiler company in the world. I found a parts supplier by googleing on my phone. Then he claimed that my hot water heater is about to go out because they only last 10 years. No issues with the water heater ever. Then he tried to sell my wife and I on an $8,000 boiler/water heater combined unit. Said it would normally be $9,000 but was going to give us a 15% discount. He said he could start work the very next day if we called to get financing right away. We got very nervous and called a friend that has worked in the heating cooling industry. He came over and told us that many of these companies work on the scare tactics that we experienced with Guaranteed. The only issue with our boiler was that the vent stack had a build up of leaves because our chimney didn't have a hat/cover. They never once said that may be the issue. Total cost of repair $554 to clear the leaves and install a new hat. As I said, BUYER BEWARE!!! Get a second or third quote to make sure you don't get hooked like we almost did.

Brian Hubbard, what can I say. I called Guaranteed Comfort and Energy, to ask about a second opinion, for a diagnosed problem with the cooling on my heat pump. I've had a maintenance contract, for approximately 9 years, with another company and they found that the thermal expansion valve was bad. Guaranteed offered a second opinion, at no cost, and confirmed the valve needed replaced. Brian was the technician dispatched. I had already gotten a quote and I asked Brian what their cost would be. Brian showed me the rate books used to determining the cost, which my previous company had never done, and I was convinced to let Guaranteed Comfort and Energy do the repair. In fact, I cancelled my club membership, with Tiger Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning Services, and joined the Comfort Guard club membership with Guaranteed. The quote I received from Guaranteed Comfort and Energy was $1,000.00 less. Amazing!!!! Brian was out to do the repair and he did a great job. Took about 3 hours and I'm back to being my old cool self. Since I am now a Comfort Guard club member, I will request that Brian be my permanent technician when preventative maintenance is required. Again, thank you Brian and Guaranteed Comfort and Energy.

My husband and I are so pleased with the great service we received from Jim, the owner of Guaranteed Comfort and his employees. With colder weather approaching, we were grateful that Jim found the issues with our furnace and was quick to fix them and also put us in touch with someone able to help us with financing as we needed to replace the whole system. Jim was also able to give us some tips to make our home more energy efficient, that we were able to do ourselves. I would highly recommend Guaranteed Comfort to my friends and family!
