From the company that invented the Autohelm, Raymarine is pleased to preview the very latest in autopilot technology; Evolution™ autopilots.

The Evolution™ combines advanced aerospace guidance technology with Raymarine’s marine autopilot expertise to deliver a new level of accurate autopilot control. The result is precise and confident course keeping, regardless of vessel speed or sea conditions.

At the heart of the Evolution autopilot system is the ultra-compact, EV sensor core; a 9-axis heading sensor and full function course computer in one.

The EV sensor core comes in two versions; EV-1 for Raymarine drive systems and EV-2 for drive-by-wire systems. EV-1 uses SeaTalkng cabling for a single power and data connection to an Actuator Control Unit (ACU) which provides power and signal only to a Raymarine hydraulic or mechanical autopilot drive system. EV-2 simply uses a direct DeviceNet connection to a third party drive-by-wire system such as Teleflex Optimus 360, Volvo Penta IPS or ZF Pod Drive. Autopilot control is via the p70 or p70R control head.

Setting-up an Evolution autopilot takes just 30 seconds; select the boat type – large power, small power, or sail; select the drive type – hydraulic, mechanical, or outboard; and choose the performance level – performance, cruise, or leisure, it is as easy as that.

Dear Catamaran Owner,

My name is Andrew Holland and I am the Sales Manager at The Multihull Company, the leading international multihull yacht brokerage firm with offices around the world.

I am excited to tell you about the new partnership with Grenada Marine we have formed to give Grenada Marine’s catamaran owners top-shelf service when the time comes to sell their boats.

The partnership allows our local brokers – Gordon Forbes and Jeff Ludlam - the ability to connect you with a full service, internationally well-known yacht brokerage firm with buyers from around the globe. By combining the service that Grenada Marine already provides its customers with a complete care package in the event of a sale, yacht owners can be assured that they have experts at their disposal for any situation that arises.

You are already familiar with Grenada Marine, so let me tell you about The Mulltihull Company which has been in business for over a decade and was founded by longtime World Champion catamaran sailor Phillip Berman. Today, the firm with brokerage offices in California, Florida, Seattle, New England, France, and Turkey in addition to offices throughout the Caribbean (Trinidad, Saint Martin, USVI and BVI) is the top seller of catamarans and trimarans in the world. It was formed on the principle of service and accountability so its customers can count on a range of services from courtesy showings of their vessels to potential buyers, contract negotiations, management of the survey and sea trial, international banking relationships to ensure safe transfer of funds, expertise in taxation and importation, delivery captains and more.

There simply is no other company in the industry like The Multihull Company and now we are proud to offer our services to Grenada Marine’s customers. Whether you list your boat for sale in Grenada, and later sail her to any other location, we have the staff and resources to manage your sale professionally.

Despite the convenience of having The Multihull Company sell your boat, are there other reasons? Glad you asked. Here are just a few:

Dear Clients,

Today we are officially at the start of the 2012 hurricane season and I felt it timely to send an official update to you, our clients.

At present we are coming to a close for reservations for the summer storage period, particularly for the larger catamarans. Within the last few weeks we have completed our normal summer season preparations such as propping-stand maintenance, ground anchor location, general yard cleaning and tidying and have put a lot of work into the planning and scheduling departments.

This year we are making even more effort to ensure a smooth launching period at the end of the season.  To this end we have decided to address the one area where we get backlogged, namely bottom painting.  We are encouraging all of you to confirm your bottom jobs and to sign off on having the preparation performed during this time. We will invoice for half of the job now and get the bottom prepped, so when you return we will simply give her a light rub down and apply the paint, making the process quicker and more efficient.

We also want to apply the same philosophy to as many areas of the general works as is possible. For instance, with 2-step polishing, we will wash the hull and apply a thick coat of UV protective wax now. Aside from the protection of your top sides during the storage period, this will enable us to be ahead of the game when you are ready to launch; we will simply have to wash and buff for your return.

Engines and batteries give a lot less trouble if they are well put away and maintained during storage. Fuel tanks tend to do better if they are topped up; add a bit of biocide or similar product to keep the growth and gunk away during storage. Water tanks and plumbing should be thought about and a maintenance plan put in place. While you are still sailing don’t forget to make notes, mark damp areas with tape, go below while undersail, particularly during heavy weather, and try to see where the water is getting in from. Locating leaks is much harder once the boat is on the hard and dried out. Don’t forget your electronics; make notes as you may forget troublesome issues that can be addressed while the boat is in storage. Keep us informed about your plans to return to Grenada so that we can ensure our schedule of works is correct and on point. Remember to give yourself a few days between returning and the launching of the boat; this allows for you to acclimate to the weather and affords enough time for you to give the boat a final check while it is still on the hard.

We hope you have enjoyed our sailing region, hope you are relaxed and ready to face the challenges at home as we have seen from the news about the state of affairs in North America and Europe; we hope that none of you have been affected by any of this.

Please remember that Grenada Marine is here to help you put your “baby” away and have her ready for a stress free launch period. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the years and to let you know that without you all, we could not be here.

Fair winds!
Jason Fletcher
Managing Director

Full Service Boatyard located in Grenada, West Indies
Introduction
Grenada Marine is a “one-stop shop” boatyard providing quality services in storage, repair and maintenance in accordance with international standards for yachts in the wider Caribbean Region.

The boatyard is located on Grenada’s southeast coast in the parish of St. David, occupying ten acres of beachfront that embraces the well-protected St. David’s Harbour.

Grenada Marine currently provides storage for approximately 240 yachts and repair facilities for 20 boats simultaneously. The yard hauls and launches vessels using a custom-designed Marine Travelift hoist, which makes us unique among boatyards in Grenada and the lower Caribbean. A standard 70-ton lift has a width designed mainly for vessels up to 22′ wide, whereas the lift at Grenada Marine has a capacity of 70 tons but accommodates multi-hulls as wide as 32′. In addition, a Marine Travelift transporter is used to park a variety of boats, up to 60 tons, in a safe and space-efficient manner. The draft of our travelift slip is 12′ at high tide.

Whether you are looking for summer storage, a topside respray, a simple bottom job or a complete refit, Grenada Marine is the ideal choice for you. As our slogan says “We love boats!” And it shows.
