Embedded Linux Conference schedule, several talks from Free Electrons

There will be more than only drones, IoT and automotive. The good old low-level topics will be there too.

For those who don't know it, +GCompris is probably the best educational free software, with around 140 activities for kids aged 2 to 10. And since the more than 10 years of its existence, it has always been released under the GPL. I personally know very well its main developer, +Bruno Coudoin, and he is fully committed to the free software principles.

Since several months, Bruno and other contributors have started a huge effort of rewriting GCompris in Qt/QML, in order to provide an Android version, which is already available for beta testers.

Now, they have started an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to vastly improve the graphic design in GCompris, see https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/new-unified-graphics-for-gcompris/x/9327724. The idea is to raise $25k in order to pay a professional graphic designer to create more consistent graphics accross the entire GCompris software. And of course, all graphic designs will be released under a free license!

So I would strongly encourage you to contribute to this crowdfunding campaign, and make sure that the free software world continues to have a best-in-class educational application for our kids!
Help us bring new improved and unified graphics to GCompris, the widely used educational software...

My colleague +Thomas Petazzoni talking about the core of Builroot. The room is full even if it should be a very specific talk.

+Thomas Petazzoni you're right, I looked quickly and thought it was an earlier presentation I had read: "embedded Linux system development", but does not really matter because after reading more than three presentations of you all from Free Electrons I'm sure this has great quality too, I will see her carefully this week, keep up the great work! congratulations!

My first conference at ELCE was "The Orc Quest for Better Embedded Multimedia Performance Adding MIPS support to liborc" presented by Guillaume Emont. It was very interesting to see how to port "orc" on a architecture. We even saw some assembly code and this talk demystify a lot the complexity of this task. If you are intesrested by this subject I suggest to see the video when it will be on-line, because the slides by themselves are not enough and Guillaume added a lot of informations during the talk.
