Monkey Labour. Automagically.
Last year we looked at a Windows Phone development tool called Automagical that assists with porting iOS code to Windows Phone. In short, the PC software translates Objective-C (iOS and Mac) code into C# (Windows Phone) code. That's what I like to see! People getting together and building  something that others would think is impossible, like in this case a cellphone network.

Learning Ruby on Rails after ~3 years of Groovy on Grails experience: at first glance, I have to say Grails are easier to setup, have more compact commands and need less arcane tricks to achieve your goals.

Upgraded my KDE desktop from 4.7 to 4.8 - the upgrade process was a little bit more complicated than I'd have liked (though I just charged right in, a little RTFM would've gone a long way) but right now it looks very very nice. Many improvements, I especially like the new window switcher and other kwin changes, but the default file manager got really fast and smooth - I wish these changes could be ported to Krusader (Total Commander clone), too which is what I mostly use..

Happy Friday, everyone! Here's an interesting map that compares the scale of Westeros, the world of +Game of Thrones to Europe (here on boring, old Earth).

It's a big, scary place out there so stay safe this weekend.
Winter is Coming April 6th.

Highlights for Plasma Workspaces include Kwin optimizations, the redesign of power management, and integration with Activities. The first QtQuick-based Plasma widgets have entered the default installation of Plasma Desktop, with more to follow in future releases.
