My new/old computer should prove entertaining!

Only things salvageable amounted to Bluray/DVD drive(s), power supply. It's main 2TB storage drive used on XBox One for external storage long ago. Days end, so-called upgrades required new case, CPU, motherboard, cooler and drives (SSD boot with another 2TB storage). RAM came from last years new desktop upgraded to 32GB resulting in RAM swap. The old, old system was out of commission over a year attempting fixes due to failed Windows 8.1 upgrade, endless Unbutu headaches with drivers or lack thereof. Epic failure and reason old technology amounts to disposal when something fails. Parts can't always be swapped, upgrades don't always work, drivers may no longer be supported. Almost 10 year old system, upgraded over years reached end of life due to motherboard issues.

New dual boot i5 system will do Windows 10/Unbutu or perhaps Red Hat (Later undecided). Chose Windows 10 in Canada's 2nd official language for fallback. Funny how OEM edition is $60 less than equivalent English Canada version.

Both Windows 10 suffer same anomaly - lack of Cortana. She is learning what amounts to colloquialisms; Hockey, poutine, touque, toque, NHL/LNH, pogey, drop writ, Beaver tails, nanaimo bars, Smoked Meat, Eh, plus quaint 17th century version of French mixed with Anglais using church based profanity for Québecois. Tabernac!

Anyone in immersion outside Québec would learn European or Parisian French and comprehend, speak just fine otherwise. Meanwhile, English befuddles me for simple reason it amounts to spelling, measurement and pointers for content which are working just fine using English (Canada). UK English or American English are only localized versions of English so far.

Going this route in order to learn joy of adding systems to Windows Server. Will have all OS variants covered when completed. Windows, Apple OSX, and some strain of Linux.
Quebecois separatists now have a fully localized OS just for them.

This is the crap level of service smaller cities bask in with +Rogers Communications overpriced service! Pay same outrageous price as Toronto where 60-75Mbps was experienced on 20th floor condo. This is best for London, ON where 7Mbps or plain 4/3g service is more common.

Check out my Ookla Speedtest result. What's your speed? http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1369088877

This has been norm starting with Sony ZL (bricked) and Sony Z1, LG3 and current Samsung S6 EDGE. It's not the phone (s)  just their crappy network and lack of support unless in a big city.

Hurrah! Two weeks without my phone. Two trips to repair centre (Carrier paid) to have screen issue fixed! The old school LG loaner returned and not missed. Sorting out access to applications all over again. More frightening is Google's ability to remember almost everything. Great for re-install but noticed more application with unified login/connect to Google which is becoming scary. Seems in last two weeks they have increased, fresh install of 89 applications reaffirmed this.

Without Google making a declaration or offering accountability to what is happening to the data they collect/store it remains a point of concern. Seems they are in court in every nation for skirting privacy laws, forget me rules or generally ignoring sovereignty. All while feeding US Government access to whatever NSA doesn't already steal.

My favourite post and You Tube channel to follow. Enjoyable and satisfies the inner geek. Always like the "Spoiler Alert" warnings. Being Canadian, it's a non issue because skipping to the end is instinctive. Knowing the ending, having insight determines the importance of watching or reading something through.

1.5 hours into Windows 10 update on my Asus laptop. Alas, will be waiting a few months longer for Cortana. Seems Microsoft was unable to make it Canadian/Canadien enough in time Eh! Refuse on principal to set windows to region United States. Appears the way we use hybrid UK spelling, metric makes enunciation harder for a voice activated system! Meanwhile Siri on Apple works.

Media spin is Microsoft wanted more time to apply our unique vernacular, comprehension of wit and self-deprecation into account. Nevermind the Québecois French side of things...

Not a fan of these companies but logic did prevail in decision. Sadly the original decision shows how bad individuals within society and lawyers have become. No individual responsibility, just sue who supplied what you know is bad for you.
The Court of Appeal has ruled in favour of three big tobacco companies, saying that they are not required to immediately deposit $1 billion plus damages in a trust account for members of a class action lawsuit.

What do you get when the nation's, if not world's, worst Postal Service (Canada Post) buys a courier? This! Tracking of package via +Purolator who seems to use pack mules, mountain trails and cross country trains to ship parcels. Next on agenda will be farcical delivery or what I call, pickup from depot.

Unfolds like so: Driver shows up at house with already crafted Post-it Note and the package. Post-it Note outlines instructions for pickup next business day (Mon-Fri) at their outlet or worse sorting depot. They won't not knock on door, ring doorbell even after effort of carrying box to door.

Choice is waiting, more likely sleeping on porch after working 10 hour shift between 9:00am-1:00pm EST. Hoping the ninja-like driver awakens me. Have actually been seated in living room watching TV, movie at low volume hoping to catch them only to discover note on door! Note: Postal delivery, UPS, FedEx or Jehovah Witnesses can be heard and received, ignored with clarity.

Fact: If I wait outside they arrive shortly after I depart again leaving note. This leads to a lovely woman at outlet calling me from where it was rerouted. Reciting a scripted message about inability to deliver via Voicemail unless I receive call sparing her exercise. Problem being it will either be at a) Airport sort facility (25 min drive) or b) nearest retail outlet 10 (min drive) sometime next business day.

Will be interesting if it leaves Toronto, ON for London, ON overnight or not. Normal time about 2.5 hour drive even during Pan-Am games. Purolator leaves me thinking this will take another 3-4 days. Likely for a cyclist via back roads! Regrettably the vendor does not use FedEx or UPS. Couriers who amaze with reliable tracking, speedy delivery even on economy packages all while working weekends. Received packages from overseas faster than this!

+Purolator no need. The parcel arrived. New driver had wherewithal to make some noise, ring doorbell. Of 11-12 deliveries this represents a 1st. That is with one exception of ambushing a driver leaving porch. Make no attempts to ring doorbell and had already posted note. Regrettably the seller uses your service exclusively leaving me inconvenienced.
