So we have another social network.

The company is GotChosen, and the platform is the Social Exchange.

They have a very different approach than most social networks. While you can go to their website https://gotchosen.com you can also become a publisher and have the social network live on your site. See the header on http://ct-social.com/blog/

In addition to having a different approach to social, they also like to give back to the community they are building online in the form of a college scholarship.

My love, +Jennifer Melear gives details about the scholarship in the post below.

Simply put, after you sign up to see what GotChosen is all about, head over to her post, https://gotchosen.com/#/post/20877 and upvote (click the up arrow) it.

That's all you have to do to give Jen a better chance at winning a $5000 scholarship to help her Graphic & Interactive Design studies.

After you upvote her post, please let me know so I can thank each and every one of you personally.

Friends of Google+:

Hello and good evening! I am a student at Valencia College completing a double-major for both print graphics and interactive web design. I am attempting to win a scholarship to pay for a new laptop so that I can do awesome things in my upcoming design courses and it would be so amazing to have your help with this!

The scholarship, which is being offered by GotChosen, is for $5,000, and covers any school-related expenses of my choosing. The deadline for all entries and voting is May 31st, 2015. To qualify, I was required to sign-up for GotChosen's new social platform, create a unique post in one of their many social channels, and then ask my friends, family, co-workers (and anyone else interested) to vote for me.

I figured it may be worth my while to reach out to my friends here on Google+. If you have a few moments to spare and would like to help, I would be really grateful for your support. I have posted the steps for upvoting my post below.

<From your computer>

Step 1: Please click on the link: https://gotchosen.com/#/post/20877 (You should be directed to my post.)

Step 2: Create an account with GotChosen (Before you can vote for my post, you must create an account. This basically confirms to Got Chosen's staff that you are, in fact, human and not a robot.)

Step 3: Confirm your email address by following the link sent to you via email after creating your account

Step 4: Return to https://gotchosen.com/#/post/20877

Step 5: Click the up arrow at the bottom of my post to upvote it

If using your cell phone, it's virtually the same process, but there is an app that can be downloaded for either Apple or Android that should make things easier. Overall, I did find that it was more simplistic to use the computer to vote.

If you have any other questions you would like me to answer or need any help, please contact me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me in this! ♡
Social Exchange is a social network of friends and professionals sharing links, ideas, and conversations.

HOA invites are out of control
It would seem the tactic to get more HOA viewers is not having a good show, but spamming thousands of people in hopes that 10 of them watch.

I've been staying away from G+ lately because of all the invite spam I get. Most of my notifications are from people inviting me to their event or HOA.

Recently I have decided to try and take back my G+ experience. I'm committing to mute people that spam invite, and reduce the spam in my All stream.

I'd love to know how you handling the super surge of spam invites to HOAs and events?  Maybe, your recommendation can help improve my G+ experience.

I do not even use events anymore and some really bad practices have been occurring lately -
one, if you attend one show you are now forever invited to EVERY show I will ever be on EVER!
two, if you comment on an event that apparently means you are so interested in all shows associated with every person who ever sees this event therefore you will be invited to EVERY event from here on out.
three, if you join my community it clearly means you should be shared in a circle with all other community members and thereby will be invited to everything that every member of said community does!!!

So, I am with you +Greg Trujillo - muted! and in some cases blocked because the word no has lost all meaning!

I miss the good ones though, the ones I really enjoyed watching.  There are just a few left it seems.

If you are more than just a casual user of social media, what approach do you take when using it to achieve your goals?

Are you trying to build:
A mass following?
Targeted relationships?
Sell a product?
Increase brand recognition?

I've noticed a large amount of people using social media as a publication platform.

There is no denying that social networks have created opportunity for publishers to reach more people than ever.

So it makes sense that more people / brands would take to publishing. But how do you reach the masses of you do not already have a mass following?

Your approach to social media marketing will determine how effective you are in reaching your goals online. Does social media play a role in your online marketing?

Looking for a solid company to build your website can be stressful. Sometimes when they are trying to explain their process it starts to sound like a different language.

+Carolyn Capern outlines five questions you should has the company before you hire them to work on your website.

Of course there are plenty more things you should be asking your website company, this is to help you to understand the quality level of the websites they provide.

What are some questions you suggest asking a web design company before starting work with them?

Since 2011 Central Florida has reduced Veterans homelessness by 59%.

This year, we end it completely.

Do Our Myths Prevent Us From Ending Homelessness?

There are plenty of misconceptions when it comes to the homeless. Most people think the homeless is in their position because of the choices they have made in their life.

While some are, this is not the case for the majority. Also, the ones that made bad choices may not have had many good options to begin with.

For the majority that enter homelessness with a sound mind, it does not last. Imagine being stuck on the streets, if you have lived it you know how difficult even just a couple of days can be. Imagine how being homeless for thousands of days would damage the essence of you.

Andrae Bailey CEO of +Rethink Homelessness does an amazing job dispelling some of the most common homelessness misconceptions.

MISCONCEPTION #1: All homeless people are homeless for basically the same reasons
MISCONCEPTION #2: Those who are homeless choose to be on the streets
MISCONCEPTION #3: Arresting and punishing the homeless will effectively cure the problem
MISCONCEPTION #4: Nothing can be done to help solve the problem of homelessness in America

I for one am very excited to see the community coming together to solve homelessness. When it comes down to it, homelessness is a community problem we should all be stepping in to solve.

Are our misconceptions holding us back from ending homelessness?

I've been privileged to work closely with the +Rethink Homelessness campaign for the last year and a half, and to learn so much about the nature of our homeless problem in Central Florida.

It's a serious one-- among the highest homeless populations in the nation.

In that time, I've heard many different opinions of the homeless, and they have become a familiar refrain: they need to get a job, they need to stop doing drugs, they need to quit being so lazy, they need to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps.

The truth is far more complicated than it seems.

Rethink CEO Andrae Bailey wrote this beautiful post about the four biggest misconceptions holding back our region and our country from solving our homeless crisis. It's my hope that you will read it with an open mind and heart. Change CAN happen.

#rethinkhomelessness
We have been attempting to end homelessness across our nation for decades, but progress has been slow. Do our misconceptions get in the way of solutions?

The world is full of cliques.

Which clique you choose to associate your brand with can determine how people perceive you.

Even if your values do not completely align with a group you are in, or colleagues that you are seen with in public, people will associate you with their perception of the company you keep.

When choosing an organization, or business group, to align your brand with, what is the main deciding factor? Moral values? Cost? Alignment of goals?

This is the business social club to join in Orlando! If you are a business owner, and you have not experienced networking at the Citrus Club, you are missing out on a great deal of professional contacts. On top of the professional connections you can build at the club, the staff is professional and courteous, and the food is good too! I also have to give a hat-tip to the bartender Amy, she is superb, her creations hit the spot every time.

BJ's Restaurant has some really delicious food! I love the "made in house" root beer, cream soda, orange soda, and their selection from their in house brewery is great! When its busy it can be really hit or miss. I suggest going during lunch if possible, and steering clear of the pastas. Enjoy!

Best subs in the area hands down. Everytime I get a sub from this place its top notch quality, the warm cookie option is amazing and all of their shakes are to die for. Highly recommend!!

Great pizza a little on the greasy side but the flavor is the best in the area. If you are in the neighborhood and have a craving for pizza, I highly recommend this Anthony's Pizza.
