And four legged, all terrain drones coming to a war near you (see also autonomous fighter jets and undersea drones  http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2013/09/hydra-darpa/ http://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=75298 )

Boston Dynamics' latest robot is designed to travel quickly "over all kinds of terrain." This one seems a bit more terrifying than (say) their BigDog, which is meant to be a pack animal; it's hard to see this without imagining it chasing you through the forest, sort of a cross between the forest chase scene in Return of the Jedi and the humans fleeing from genetically engineered wolves at the beginning of God Emperor of Dune.

Science fiction references aside, I'm interested in what the actual applications BD has in mind for this device are. What would you do with a robot that can run, tirelessly and quickly, through all kinds of terrain?

It's fun to imagine being hunted down by one of those things through the rubble of a post-apocalyptic cityscape.
