Great rant on hype-driven development:: A "hasty decision to use framework even though it does not solve any of their actual problems ... does not improve the team’s life as much as people hoped, but brings a lot of extra work. There’s a lot of rewriting the code and extra learning for the team. Teams slow down, management gets pissed off. People feel cheated."

Includes a good discussion of the issues with applying some overhyped frameworks in situations where they are not ideal. Also some solutions are mentioned, including taking the time to prototype using a couple different solutions and including a diverse team that has varied experience, including having seen many frameworks (don't be a monoculture).
