Yeah, it's allways those guys who tryed Linux for 5 minutes sometime back in the 90'ies, that have the strongest opinion about Linux usability.
Unity is pretty awful, I agree. It's only one user interface.
+Jörg Reinhardt, exactly! Frankly, most software is about the same on Linux, windows and a Mac, for me (I use a text editor and a browser 95% of the time). It is the user interface that I like in Linux!

Unity sucks, of course, It is a mixture of all that is bad about Windows and Mac and none that is good.
Free other kernels support such a broad and diverse ecology of user interfaces.
