Some thoughts from my latest trip to Cuba, don't forget to check out the updated photo essay in the features section!
On my second trip to Cuba, the unfamiliar became familiar. I knew how to navigate the landscape. My spanish was marginally better. And I knew where to get the best beans and rice in Havana. I am starting to recognize the nuances and contradictions of a people finding their footing between ...

I'm so thrilled to share that Mike Davis is the new +Alexia Foundation Chair: http://www.alexiafoundation.org/

Read more about Mike here: http://www.michaelddavis.com/applause/

Not familiar with the Alexia Foundation? From their website:

The Alexia Foundation promotes the power of photojournalism to give voice to social injustice, to respect history lest we forget it and to understand cultural difference as our strength – not our weakness.

Through grants, scholarships and special projects, The Alexia Foundation supports photographers as agents for change.

Finally get to share my continuing project #3millimeters. Today the first part was the cover and ENTIRE issue of the Sunday Washington Post Magazine. The project about sea level rise on the Eastern Shore of Maryland was a personal project I started in 2012 and quickly was picked up by the post. I've had to keep it under wraps until now, but there is a lot more to come. More photos audio and video will continue to publish in other venues and will culminate in an online magazine that will be updated regularly. Please pick up a copy of the Sunday magazine today, or go online!
I pulled my car to the side of the road on a breezy, cloudy July afternoon. Water streamed over the blacktop in front of me, blocking my route to Narrows Ferry Bridge — the only road connecting the Eastern Shore of Maryland to Hoopersville, a small fishing village on the Chesapeake Bay. Small waves crashed […]
