Daily Telegraph: The bad news we’re not hearing. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIw6dzgviY
AUSTRALIA is about to snag the longest run of economic growth any country has ever seen and we should all feel deeply patriotic.

Last night in Hawaii. Not looking forward to the early flight home or the cold weather when we get there. We had rain tonight just as the fire dancing started at the luau (which finally happened after being washed out twice) and it was still more pleasant than the weather back home...

Kind of a dangerous inclusion in a singing in the shower play list ;)

Scammy looking ad when I browse through to an article from the Facebook app, well this is a first. +The Sydney Morning Herald not a great look, though I guess it is a Google served ad. The mobile site it goes to makes my phone vibrate like a call is coming in as well (also a first), ad reported.

Obviously I'm pretty late to the party on this one but Penny Dreadful seems pretty great so far. I had the impression that it was a completely different show from what it's turned out to be as well (I thought it was more horror than anything else and it's really not).

The way the show blends characters from lots of different books and history reminds me another show but I can't quite remember what it is.

It is really weird at times but it draws me like True Blood did, at least till the final season of True Blood.

The one tech toy I managed to buy in the US (a Roku 3 streaming box) is not working. Roku can't assist with a replacement outside the US and we don't exactly have Wallmarts in Australia...

Anyone in the states near a Wallmart and want to assist with a return for replacement?

+Greg Hortin US only apps won't be available, unfortunately. However, it does aggregate all Australian available content (like your Prestos and your Netflix) into one system. Read all about it here: http://exchange.telstra.com.au/2015/07/29/telstra-tv-coming-home-near/

Thanks, Jamie.

Decent movie with great performances all around (Ice Cubes sons portrayal of his dad was spot on) It was probably a little longer than it needed to be though and there is no real reason to see it on the big screen.

Good to see that this sort of shake down won't be making its way to Australia. Though there is far less need for downloading with decent streaming services and pay per view services hitting our shores...

There are still examples of exclusivity making it painful to watch what you want without a VPN or Foxtel subscription (GoT on Foxtel, no thanks I'll use a VPN). You also have annoying delays:
- Humans is on ABC and paid download but both are showing an episode of season 1 each week even though season 2 is starting (and +ABC Australia iView is buggy as hell on ps4 and Chromecast)
- Mr Robot has come out exclusively on Presto (garbage app and generally low quality streaming), thankfully I still have a free trial of presto so I can battle through bugs and crashes to watch a great series

In the case of Humans (which is a bloody great show so far) I ended up buying the series (as iView is so unreliable), but I'm having it drip fed to me an episode at a time which is bullshit. I'd prefer to have just bought Mr Robot as well too but instead I'm watching it with a free trial on a bad streaming service (as I can't just buy the series).

Even with the recent progress it's still cheaper and easier to get ALL the TV and Movies you want with dodgy downloads. Buying/streaming needs to be easier than downloading (when you can watch on Netflix or buy it generally is) and the delay needs to go away. There is some people either can't or won't pay (that won't change) but there are plenty of others who will if it's easier*.

*there is also people like me stubbornly working far harder than I should to find the legal (streaming/purchase) option. I currently have subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, Stan and free trials for Showtime (Penny Dreadful is freaky good) and Presto (service is garbage but at least I can watch Mr Robot). Even with all of that there is stuff I can't buy or watch at the time of release (Fx and AMC shows). I'm probably watching more TV than I should at the moment anyway.. (though it is kind of the Golden Age of TV right now and winter in Australia ;)

+Dean Taig the judge ruled that they wouldn't support their intended claims or claims based on other downloads so if you're looking at the cost of a rental plus the cost of a legal letter they can't really recoup that cost based on the number of users targeted.

I've been seeing an awful lot of sluggishness lately, more so than both of my older tablets. Not entirely sure what they did wrong with the hardware to make it misbehave like it does.

Read an article about this book in the guardian and it sounded really interesting. Went to buy it today and the bookshop clerk told me the price was $85!

When I asked the clerk why it was so expensive he said the publisher in question is just putting up the price of all their books. Clearly the publisher isn't looking to sell many books in Australia...

Great meals and the best hot chocolate in Melbourne. The service is always good even with the occasional wait to get a table on busy days. My favorite cafe and not just because it's close to home.

One of my favourite local restaurants, some of the best low cost Indian food that I've had in Melbourne. The service is always quick and friendly, the décor is a bit dated but thats kind of par for the course in Brunswick.

Love this Cinema feels like it hasn't changed since I went there as a kid in the 80's... Nostalgia can be a powerful thing. The screens and sound are better than average and I find the chairs pretty comfortable.

Delicious hearty meal. Great flavours, great chips, what you hope for when you hear Irish food. Wild Mushroom pie is highly recommended.

Great food, cocktails, service and atmosphere. It's slightly more pricy than some of the other restaurants in Bali but it's totally worth it.

Great selection and variety of delicious food, informed friendly staff, delicious (and far too drinkable) Sangria. Great atmosphere and quick turnaround on orders. A regular favorite.

Discovered this place by accident but what a discovery. The decor is a bit odd (seems like it's more suited to a 90s bar). The guy running the place was friendly and prompt with the orders. The food was an absolute stand out. You get the choice between Malaysian, Thai and Singaporean dishes. We went with Singapore Noodles and a chicken and rice dish and they were both full of great flavours and looked fantastic on the plate. There were lots of other great options on the menu as well so I'll have to get back there soon. The pricing was really cheap too at $10 each for the mains. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food.
