I've not been doing too much with the Google Plussing, but I made this JoCo/Star Trek mash-up today and I'm quite proud of it. What think you guys?

Hey, Tokyo people!

I'm looking to sell my year-old Mac Mini while I'm in Tokyo near the end of this month. There's nothing wrong with it, I just want to get one of the new Minis before exchanging my yens for worthless dollars.

I bought it for ¥68000, and then recently put ¥5000 worth of memory into it. It's pretty blazing fast for everything except brand new video games, but who does that on a Mac anyway?

I'm looking to sell for ¥30000, or best offer. I think that's fairly reasonable considering the age of the computer and that I'll deliver!

If you want to know more, or if you're interested, just reply to this post, send me a private Plus-Post, or, I suppose email me at gregoryharbin@gmail.com. Also feel free to Share this post or tell any of your friends who might be looking for a cheap new desktop.

I suggest you also buy a nice Goban, and some stones... I'm sure you could find a nice used Goban over there pretty cheap... back in the USA the big old nice ones are expensive. :)

I've not been as active on G+ as I'd like…Twitter's so much easier to use.

But you G+ folks should really check out this latest episode of the Star Trek podcast I do with +Christopher Jones. It's funny, engaging, intelligent, and really, really long. Yeah, it's over two hours. Split it up. Listen in chunks. Even if it takes a week to listen, that's fine.

We talk about getting Marina Sirtis on Dancing With The Stars, I stump Chris with a trivia question, Chris tells what he'd like to see changed for the TNG Blu-Ray, and then we discuss Star Trek: Generations, which somehow turns out to be one of my favorite Trek films. Dunno how that happened.

Let me know what you think!

Sure, blame me. Don't bother to mention that the Glommers promised you extra Tribbles for dinner if we went past two hours. I understand.

Project 500.

Today's the first official day of my 'write 500 words a day' project. I've been talking about it some on here, and I was considering posting everything on here, but I think in the end G+ is just a little too fuzzy for what I'm wanting. So I made a Wordpress blog.

http://gregharbin.wordpress.com/

The posts will be password-protected, at least at first. If you want the password, please just ask me for it, I'm going to be pretty loose.

The plan, my veritable pledge to you the reader, is to write 500 words a day, 5 days a week, for the next 5 weeks. If this goes well, I'll extend it to 5 months. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Today's 500 words are from a science fiction story that I've fully outlined, but keep having trouble actually sitting down and writing. Consider this the 'first, rough draft' version of a novel that will hopefully be out someday. And that'll be true of everything I write. While some non-fiction might slip in from time to time, my plan is to throw several stories up into the air and work on juggling them as long as I can. The stories that interest me (and hopefully, you) the most will get written more, and get closer to that awesome finished first draft phase, which is where the real fun begins.

So, please, join me on this adventure of productivity and creation. I hope it'll be as fun for you as it will be for me.

Little-known fact: Ocean Girl was part of the Wonder Triplets, originally cast for Justice League of America. Due to an unfortunate incident with a jellyfish, however, she was unable to appear on the show and was replaced at the last minute by the monkey Gleek, much to the dismay of Aquaman.

If these are actually reasons why we need anonymity online (in places like Google+, Facebook, Twitter), then we need to take a real, hard, straight look at our society and figure out why we suck so much.

Just a few:

"•Anyone named "Mohammed", who might fear harassment/discrimination as a Muslim
•Children of well-known figures, who may wish to preserve their privacy
•Those involved in highly contentious political activity, around issues such as abortion, civil rights, etc.
•People with physical or mental health issues seeking support, where knowledge of their health problems may lead to embarrassment, insurance difficulties, employment discrimination, etc.
•People who want to know more about LGBT issues to help find out if they are LGBT or to support others.
•People seeking sexual partners, especially those seeking casual or extra-relationship sex.
•People whose hobbies or interests are commonly mocked or looked down upon, such as Furries, roleplayers, Fan fiction authors, and nudists"

Now there's a Venn diagram I can get behind! Looking forward to being one of those 'streaming only' customers when I move back to the States next month.

well you also need a really freaking good selection to stream. Netflix still offers some DVD only items...>_> BTW the reason why the streaming is so larger is because it is easier to access whilst waiting for your dvds to come back in the mail! lol

Is there any way to use my iPad as the display for my Mac Mini? Not a second display…the only display. During the transition between Japan and America, I'm going to be without a monitor for a couple weeks, and I'd like to be at LEAST able to mess with iTunes so I can sync my iPad and iPhone from time to time.

Aside from that…anyone in Tokyo want to let me borrow an LCD screen for a week?
