Open letter to the +Xbox team

Dear Xbox team,

Do you want to make the Xbox and Xbox Live a truly killer, must have platform? Focus on transforming it into 'the hub' for connected people: gamers, TV and Movie watchers, friends and families in disparate time zones and situations.

How?

1)     Re-write the base OS code to make it RESPONSIVE.. The multitasking improvements and the look and feel are so much better than 360, but please make it more responsive. Please.
2)     Nothing you do on XBOX should be more than three 'clicks' away - finding your favorite show, creating a party, sharing content. Reference: http://www.uie.com/articles/three_click_rule/ I'm sure you already have the UX developers to make it happen.
3)    Speaking of sharing, what gives? In the world of iPhone, iPad and Android, we are all used to sharing anything and everything we do digitally. We are social creatures - so please let us be social! Sharing on XBOX is an exercise in frustration. Ever try to take a screen grab or video capture of a moment in Destiny and quickly share it with your friends? It's too hard, period. You've been getting better, with adding OneDrive and Twitter - great start but make it easier, faster and PLEASE add more integration with the rest of our social lives - Facebook, Pinterest, Google Drive/Plus/Photos etc. Trust me- opening the OS and the content you curate, watch, and play to the social and storage tools that everyone is using anyway will make the XBOX instantly relevant to the masses. Here's an idea "Hey mom, I'm watching this really cool show called Orphan Black on the Beeb. I'm sending you a link so you can add it to your TV watch list" - and include the network, time, or streaming service along with the share so mom can get watching right away.

I'm pretty sure that you can take the API links created in the Windows Phone OS and port them over to XBOX OS (or Windows 10 in the future). Sure, it's not easy probably, but you aren't in an easy business, and you have a ton of really smart engineers and developers that would probably love the challenge!

4)    Embrace the wireless world we live in. The XBOX One controller hasn't really changed in 10 years. We still have to plug a wired headset into our controller. Why not leverage Wifi direct, or Bluetooth? You would make a lot of us gamers very happy indeed.

5)    Make XBOX the hub of our digital lives by taking the experience outside the 'BOX' - make messaging, sharing, storing and available even when we are away from the box. How awesome would it be to able to grab that last Forza moment you saved, say after you finished eating dinner or doing your homework from your iPad or Surface without having to fire up the BOX? Or being able to send a message to your friends that you'll be on in a half hour to play Crota's end in Destiny? Right now, we are using Facetime, SMS or Facebook messenger to accomplish this. Leverage the internet and cloud to keep us in the XBOX live world. Make the apps to do this ad supported, if you have to, but wouldn't you rather keep us in your world than sending us off to someone elses? Think of the possibilities! Your shareholders would love you for it.

Hopefully, someone will read this and think about it - I know I'm not alone based on the discussions I have with people every day on Live.

I've got a bunch of other ideas for transforming XBOX, but I have to get back to Orphan Black. :)

Thanks for listening!

Greg

In a recent client meeting, a high-ranking executive told us that every piece of content should take no more than three clicks to access. We knew exactly what he was talking about: we've heard the Three-Click Rule many times before. This unquestioned rule of web design has been around nearly as ...

Ever get tired of Windows and want to get back to Linux, but are too lazy to flash a drive with Ubuntu and all that stuff? Or are you REALLY too lazy some days to even reboot? (that's me!)

Try Pubuntu!!! It's a fork written by a very clever guy with a sweet name - Claudio Cacsar Sa¡nchez Tejeda.

Portable Ubuntu for Windows ( Pubuntu ) is a project headed by Claudio Cacsar Sa¡nchez Tejeda that uses CoLinux (Cooperative Linux) to enable a user to run Ubuntu on top of Windows

I'm sure there are others - maybe even newer revs, but I wanted to fire up a quick Apache server to test something and this was a super easy way to do it.

Every time Chrome OS gets an update I notice a significant improvement each time and updating is a breeze unlike Windows which moves like a snail on molasses and I never notice anything different, in fact it always seem worse than before. Version 42.0 makes my Toshiba CB2 feel like a brand new machine again. :-) #chromebooktakeover

This is a fantastic post office and I'm very glad to have it in our community. I hope they never close it. BTW it's not easy to find out the hours on the USPS web site unless you want to go thru a few clicks, so here they are (subject to change at the Post Office's discretion): Mon-Fri8:30am - 5:00pm Sat9:30am - 12:30pm SunClosed Lot Parking Available
