This community of irrigation pumps stationed along side the Columbia River provides water to many fruit growers in the lower parts of the Stemilt Basin region.

The Rock Island pool of the Columbia river. Water is at extremely low levels due to the draw downs for the inspection of the crack in Wanapum dam down river.

Thanks Greg. It's really windy too. We usually have such mild weather that this is really something. When I lived in Wellington in New Zealand for a year we had this kind of wind. Hence the name Windy Wellington. Back then I think the radio station was also called windy. Ill watch the hills for mud. Getting new brakes today so hanging out in a Starbucks for a few hours.

My Grandfather, Frank Berdan. 91 years old and a WWII Veteran. He worked many years in construction as a crane operator and helped build several dams in central Washington. He began raising fruit crops on Wenatchee Heights back in the late 1950's. One of his favorite introductions is “I'll be Frank and friendly”. We've camped, hunted and fished together. Gotten trucks stuck in the mud and unstuck with a board. Burned stuff beside the road and talked to neighbors as they stopped on their way home. Welded busted equipment and saved good bolts with a thread file. Discussed people, politics, wars and women. Two of my favorite things he has taught me were how to talk to animals and how to make songs about our dogs with verses mostly involving toilet humor. I don't care what those wanted posters at the post office say, he's a pretty good guy in my eyes. ;)

Exposed bowls and lifts at the pumping station. A result of water levels being far lower than normal due to the reduced pool levels resulting from the issue at Wanapum Dam.

I attended two funerals yesterday. Each for a man who will be greatly missed by their families and friends. One of them I knew well, the other I had never met. During the services, the message from both of their services was this: Their families and friends knew without a doubt that they were loved by these men.

They knew this because these men had spent quality time with them; taken the time to listen to them; lived life with them; told them they loved them. These men did not let the tiny problems in their lives occupy the big spaces of their hearts. They made the time to spend with their loved ones letting those moments fill the large spaces in their hearts and memories, leaving the little problems of life to be just what they were... little.

Now set aside those pesky little things, and never allow those you love... to ever forget that you do.

Had dinner with my grandpa Frank tonight. He got a little sleepy after a chicken dinner followed by peach pie a la mode.

Story
Tagline
Photographer, outdoorsman, lollygagger, joker, impatient, patient, easily bored, easily entertained.
Introduction

I am a photographer and outdoorsman, located in Wenatchee Washington. My day job keeps me outside most days in the rural farm region and in the nearby mountains, deserts, and forests, so most of my non client work consists of nature and landscape shots.

I try to stay spontaneous and shoot what I am around every day. I do travel to other locations when I have the time. I enjoy shooting classic cars for fun.

I made the decision to go into business as owner of Greg Berdan Photography, providing professional photography services, as of August 2012.

I hope you enjoy what I see.
