The Colorado Department of Transportation and City crews have been busy working on the temporary span wire signal at the intersection of US34 Bypass and 83rd Ave. It is anticipated that the signal will be activated on Friday, January 20th. As a safety precaution, traffic signals are always placed in flash mode for a period no less than 7 days. This gives the traveling public time to adjust to a new signal location and helps prevent surprises.

CDOT Press Release:

CDOT to Begin Installation of Temporary Traffic Signal Installation at US 34 and 83rd Avenue - Construction to be complete by end of January

Greeley, CO — Starting Thursday, January 12, the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin installation of a new temporary traffic signal at US 34 and 83rd Avenue. The installation is designed to create a safer traffic movement for vehicles that travel in the area, allowing left hand turns and crossings. Installation will be complete by the end of January.

“Our goal with this temporary installation is to expedite the safety benefits of a new signal while we complete the design of a permanent traffic signal in the area,” said Larry Haas, Region 4 Traffic Engineer. The permanent installation of a new traffic signal will occur by next year.

Motorists in the area can expect lane closures in the area throughout the month of January. Information about weekly lane closures will be available at www.codot.gov/travel/scheduled-lane-closures.html. Live road conditions are available at www.cotrip.org or by calling 511 from anywhere in the state.
