You are invited to join the community at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. March and Celebration on Monday, January 16, at 10:30 a.m.

The march will start at the Greeley Chamber of Commerce (902 7th Ave), travel south on 7th Ave, west on 10th St, and north on 10th Ave, ending at the Union Colony Civic Center where there will be a brief program.

The Greeley Organic Waste Center (GROW) site will accept one Christmas tree per residential household at no charge. All decorations and wire MUST be removed and wreaths are not accepted. Hours at the GROW Center are Tuesdays – Saturdays 10am to 4pm.

City of Greeley administrative offices will be closed on Friday, December 23 through Monday, December 26 for the Christmas holiday. The City offices will also be closed on Monday, January 2 to celebrate New Year’s Day.
Closures include:
• Greeley City Hall & Municipal Court
• City Hall Annex
• Public Works Administration Building

The Greeley History Museum will be closed on Saturday, December 24, Sunday, December 25, and Sunday, January 1.

Tune in to GTV8 this month to view a special edition of the No. 3 Ditch "Windows of Time" video. It is being aired in memory of Gail Rowe who wrote the script and recently passed away. (Rowe was a professor at the +University of Northern Colorado and a member of Greeley Historic Preservation Commission.)

Showings will happen Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9am, 12:30pm, and 8pm. As well as 10am and 5:30pm on the weekends.

A look at some of the "What's Great" recognitions made at the last City Council Meeting:

• Greeley City Attorney Doug Marek has been named Outstanding City Attorney by the Metro City Attorneys Association.

• Greeley police officer Lt. Adam Turk was one of 222 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI’s National Academy Program.

• The University of Northern Colorado, UNC has been named the top Theatre College in Colorado by On Stage Blog for 2017.

• Greeley Police Department Detective Michael Prill has been awarded the Colorado Attorney General’s Excellence in Criminal Investigation Award.

In addition to our regular Seal Coat program, we have also dedicated a section of road in the Promontory Neighborhood to testing new Seal Coat products from different vendors. The section was completed in late October and was done at almost no cost to the City.

The City of Greeley Parks Division is now accepting 2017 sports field reservations for the Island Grove multi-use fields, Youth Sports Complex, Balsam Park, Monfort Park, Forbes Field, and Butch Butler Field.

Interested organizations must submit a letter of interest to the City of Greeley’s Parks Division, c/o Parks Superintendent Eric Bloomer, 1607 C Street. Greeley, CO 80631 before January 2, 2017.
