PM Tsipras unveils National Strategy for Administrative Reform 2017-2019

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was the keynote speaker at the "National Strategy for Administrative Reform 2017-2019" presentation on Wednesday 30th August, during an event organized by the ministry of Administrative Reform at the Benaki Museum in Athens. Ending patronage hiring and adopting digitizing services were at the core of the government's proposals to overhaul the Hellenic public sector and transform it to an independent, meritocratic and effective public administration by 2020.

Lina Venturas, Professor of History and Sociology of Migration at Panteion University spoke with Rethinking Greece on the waves of Greek #immigration to the US, Northwest Europe and Australia as part of wider population movements from agricultural to industrial countries and the key role human mobility has played in the development of the contemporary world.

Professor Venturas also outlined the benefits of the programme for integration of refugee children in the Greek educational system and the importance of according legal status and other socio-economic rights to #refugees and #migrants.
