Screenings also are appropriate for anyone who does not have a concern right now, but who wants to see how their memory is now and for future comparisons.

Call today to schedule your FREE 15-minute screening appointment. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

NOTE: A memory screening is not used to diagnose any particular illness and does not replace consultation with a qualified physician or other healthcare professional.

“TOUCHING HISTORY” MILITARY MUSEUM
A VERY SPECIAL VETERANS APPRECIATION DAY CEREMONY

Our Veterans Appreciation Day event was an opportunity for veterans, community members and families to “touch history” with the military memorabilia museum which included regalia and artifacts from several wars.

Tom Weaver, owner/curator of the traveling “Touching History” military memorabilia museum says, “We bring our collection of memorabilia from WWI, WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam War to local communities so veterans can touch and remember their history. Visitors can see, up close, the Class A uniforms, hats, helmets, field equipment, weapons, gear and other regalia. For veterans, many of whom were 17 or 18 years old when they served our country, our traveling museum helps create a dialogue that keeps our country’s history alive, personal and remembered.”

For GranVida residents, some of whom are veterans, having this special ceremony on site was a rare chance for them to interact with the collection of war memorabilia and artifacts, and to share their military experience with their children, grandchildren and community.

Small town. Great life. GranVida.

OUR FIRST ANNUAL VETERANS APPRECIATION DAY CEREMONY

On the afternoon of Saturday, July 29th, GranVida Senior Living and Memory Care honored our veterans during a very special ceremony.

Over 100 residents, families, friends and neighbors enjoyed a few heartwarming and intimate presentations as well as a walk down memory lane through a military museum of historical significance.

GranVida resident Richard Goodman is a U.S. Navy veteran who served overseas from 1950 to 1954 and received both a Purple Heart Medal and a Bronze Star Medal. He said special events like the Veterans Appreciation Day ceremony really makes people feel “proud to be an American.”

OUR RESIDENT SANTA AKA SIR RICHARD (A Resident Story)

Born in Colorado. Educated in California. And worked at Northrop on the Apollo space program. Richard later found his true calling as Santa Claus.

He’s delighted children around the world every Christmas for 40 years, and continues to do so, even as a knighted, kilt-wearing member of the Scottish Clan Claus Society.

Today, he and his wife JoAnne are two of our many energetic people at GranVida enjoying the life enrichment programs, engaging events and warm community of neighbors, friends and family.

As our resident Santa, Richard understands that it’s better to give than to receive.
