Tips and Tricks  -

Hi. Is there anyway to set the default grid view for clips in ARRANGEMENT view? Everytime I record a clip in there go to edit, it defaults to "narrow". I know I can just right click and change it, but I would prefer to have it set to "medium". Otherwise have to do this every time. Driving me mad. How do I change this? There seems to be no option for that.

Hi there. Do any of the "power users" here have any advice regarding using Kontakt within Live. I've set multiple outputs routing them to seperate audio tracks. But now, how do I deal with automation on the midi tracks? If I want to adjust vol or pan I have to do that on the "audio out" track in Live. Would like to be able to make those adjustments on the midi track rather. Is there any info about this somewhere? Thanks

This is my first ever attempt at composing a piece of music with multiple movements and themes. So its really about five songs in one, and clocks in at around 14 minutes.

You really have to listen to it from beginning to the end to get the full picture. I actually came up with the intro when I made a mistake playing the piano part and got the b5 interval the became the main motif in the tune. Its repeated in various forms throughout the song. Enjoy

Here we go! This is the first of about 20 new tracks I wrote at the start of the year, and then my computer died and I had to resort to writing on an ipad. But I'm back! So, heres something uptempo to get started, Short and to the point, no major guitar heroics or anything, but has some cool riffs IMO. Used the +ScuffhamAmps  S-Gear on this one, and its become my go-to guitar sim software these days.

So, I wrote this one sometime in 2013, just as something a bit different. The middle, sort of solo, just keeps modulating to different keys centres. I like playing over stuff like that, keeps you on your toes. And then I did these ethereal backing vocals as well to round it off.

My best attempt at writing a Scott Henderson and Tribal Tech type song. I watched Scott's Melodic Phrasing video (yes, video) till the tape broke. Its still the best thing ever to watch if you want to learn to break away from playing licks. Google it. His loose approach to phrasing and playing across bars lines and rhythmic displacement lodged itself in my brain.

The middle solo is in the key of "nothing". I have no idea, I made up some chords on the keyboard and the attempted to play something that worked over it.

The title of this song is taken from an old BBC radio comedy show starring Tony Hancock, called Hancock's Half Hour. Weused to have an LP with one show on each side. My favourite was the Wild Man Of The Woods.

In this episode, Tony had enough of society and decides to sell everything and move to the woods. To him, moving to the woods is really just down the road to the local common. One of his friends, who is always looking for way to make money, decides to sell tickets to the general public to come and see "The Wild Man Of The Woods".

Eventually huge crowds turn up to come and stare at him and take photos. The mob turns angry at one point, insisting that he perform for their amusement. Somewhere around this time Tony shout the line: "Stop poking me with that stick!"

Theres a metaphor in there somewhere....

The drums are loops from OddGrooves in Sweden .I especially like the "free" middle section. You just can't program that kind of stuff.
