St Pete Beach one of the finest cool white sand beaches in area! Room nicely updated and soothing, had views of bay, partial beach and parking garage roof, strange triangle room set up cuts room making it tight around table and bathroom door, takes a little getting used to, but beds are very comfortable. Staff very accommodating. Housekeeping left door to room open all day after service, but everything was found to be in order. Spinners Rooftop Bistro - gorgeous views, 2 of 3 entrees extremely salty. Bongos beach bar very cool.

Stayed here this weekend 8/28. My husband and I didn't have a hotel booked just came down to St. Pete for a night. We got a great deal on a suite since it was our anniversary which was facing the ocean with two balconies. There was a tiki bar (bongos) downstairs with plenty room for seating. We ordered the cheese plate YUMMY the bruchetta YUMMY and the coconut shrimp YUMMY and at sunset they have a free sunset shooters. At night we went to the rooftop bar (spinners) at the very top of the hotel. It's a 360 rotating restaurant. Although we got there after they closed they had a out door bar on THE ROOFDECK. It has not even done it's grand opening yet, but the bar is AMAZING. That is a must see! We ordered two frozen drinks.. my husband ordered a cool cucumber and I ordered a mango passion. Both were delicious but we both agreed the other was better so we switched :) This hotel has everything great to offer. Highly recommended

I just spent a week at the Grand Plaza. It was more than I expected on every level. From the moment we walked through the door, even though we were early, they were very accommodating to help us and make sure our needs were met. Cindy was most helpful. She was very pleasant and informative, even offering up suggestions of the best place in town for pizza. Bunker was also wonderful. Offering to hold our luggage for a few hours instead of us having to take them back to our rental car. The entire staff there was wonderful. The hotel itself was up to date and very inviting. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. And the view we had was absolutely amazing. We were able to upgrade our room for a fee, but it was well worth it. From our balcony we were able to see the bay as well as the Gulf of Mexico, enjoy every sunrise and listen to the live music that was played every day! The colors from every sunset were absolutely breath taking, nothing like being on the beach in the evening. We went to dinner one night at Spinners, the revolving restaurant on the roof. The food, service and views were fantastic. I especially enjoyed that fact that you have access to swim either in a pool or in the Gulf. Having a bar right down stairs was nice to be able to get away and enjoy some grown up time. I would highly recommend the Grand Plaza Hotel to anyone looking for a vacation getaway. Thanks to everyone there for making my stay such a memorable time for me and my family!

We stayed in the double balcony suite, it was beyond what I expected! The shutters on the windows were beautiful, the linens were clean & fluffy. The beds were so comfortable! And amenities... it really shows luxurious class when the hotel has chosen the eucalyptus & lavender stress relief line from bath & body works as your complimentary shampoo, conditioner, bar of soap & lotion. I loved it! The ladies at the desk were more than helpful getting me reservations for my family of 5, for Spinners. We made our reservations at 7:45pm so we were able to watch the sunset, but it was the fabulous customer service that impresses me. The same lady that checked us in, took care of it, I told her I wanted to have dinner there at sunset, she found out what time the sun would be setting, made our reservation for 20 min prior & called me to let me know all I had to do was be there at that time. I was already on the beach! It was the best stay & I WILL be returning very soon!

My family went here for a wedding...we had a wonderful visit, the hotel was older but very clean. The rooms were very nice, clean and modern. The beach out front is just where you want to be! Every department was very busy with guest and yet everyone was nice, smiled and helpful. When we got home I realized there was a charge on my account that was not mine. I called the hotel and spoke with Melissa (I hope I got that right) who was amazing, nice and get this SHE TOOK CARE OF IT THERE WITH ME ON THE PHONE, a room charge got put on our room by mistake (that is not a big deal at all, we are humans and we can make mistakes, it is how we treat our customers that shows our true customer service) The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is two things: 1. The buffet was not good, food was dried out and felt like it had been frozen at one time, but then again it could have just been an off day for the kitchen. 2. When we asked the staff cleaning up after the wedding if there was a bar on the top floor we could go to, they could not answer any questions about the Hotel property. Here again I do understand if you are an employee that does not usually interact with the guest, questions can catch you off guard, but when your hotel is small you should know the places on your own property since you want your guest to go there and not leave the property.

As the pics displayed when I booked online, a king size suite had a sofa bed. However, when I checked in, my room had a king size along with a double bed. I told them that it's a mistake because I wanted one with a sofa to relax and not have 2 beds in the room. The front desk (who was a bit condescending) said all their rooms have 2 beds. I then asked for the highest room available and she said, "All rooms are pre-assigned. And it looks like you were upgraded from gulf view to gulf front." When I asked what floor, she said 2nd floor. I didn't like that... as I would prefer a higher view than a lower gulf front room. She said although the rooms were pre-assigned, she got me a higher floor. As a side note to the front desk staff, I later came back for a beach towel and stood for a few minutes while the associate was on the phone. I motioned that I needed a towel, so she can reach behind her and hand one to me. She looked at me and said with an attitude, "I'll be right with you." It wasn't like she was in an intense conversation and not sure why she couldn't multi-task with my request. As for the room, I liked the mini fridge, the microwave, and coffee maker. Some places no longer carry any of these conveniences. I also liked they didn't charge additional resort fee or parking fees. On the other hand, I did NOT appreciate how housekeeping would leave the door latch guard open - to prevent the door from locking. I noticed 10+ rooms that way. First, I found it a safety issue with guests' belongings in the rooms. (I opted to not have my room cleaned.) Second, I didn't like how the doors slammed against the latch. The door would slam DOZENS of times - whenever the door shut. I mentioned it to the front desk... so let's see if management changes this process. The grounds looked good and for the most part, picked up. But the same yellow towels remained on the beach for my entire 5-day stay. The towels were left on the sand and staff never went to retrieve it. The other reviews complained about the band. Upon check-in, the clerk mentioned that it may be a bit noisy on the side she was assigning me. However, I didn't mind it. It's NOT like a heavy metal band with drunks hooting and hollering all night. It was usually a single singer with a guitar playing "Matchbox 20" type of music. I think it stopped 10pm each night. LOVED the coffee on the 1st floor which was available 24/7. The vending machines were a bit costly but you pay for the convenience. Would've loved to have had aloe lotion in the vending machine... as I'm sure I'm not the only person who got sunburned on the beautiful beach. Oh, and nice touch on the makeup remover wipes in the bathrooms in the room. So yes, the beach was beautiful. And it wasn't crowded at all... though I noticed down a ways to the north and south, it was a bit busier. Added note: upon check-out, an associate said they have some rooms with King only; but the other associate (who checked me in) said that they no longer have King bed only (again, in a condescending tone); I told them their website has the pics; she said they are taking off the pics that week - including that same day. It's now 2 days later and their site is still showing the King rooms with the sofa. It doesn't take that long to exchange old pics with new ones on a website.

A good atmosphere with good restraunts and a good bar. The rooms are kinda outdated but still nice. Great beach, and close to crabby bills. Elevators are very slow, and hotel beach towels are rough! Would stay here again but may look for another hotel to try out.
