This week on Vocal Point with Jerry Newcombe, (July 20 – July 26). LISTEN at 11:00 AM, 5:00 PM, 11:00 PM, 5:00 AM (Eastern) on www.GraceNetRadio.com.

❖ The goal to repeal and replace #Obamacare is obviously harder to achieve than first thought. Jason Pye is the director of public policy and legislative affairs for FreedomWorks. Pye recently wrote an op-ed on how the Senate Republicans should proceed on repealing Obamacare. He promotes the notion of the “Consumer Freedom Option, which “functions as an opt-out of Obamacare for those consumers who don’t want or need expensive health plans offered on the exchanges.” Jason Pye joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the issue of repealing and replacing Obamacare. www.freedomworks.org

❖ Paul Broun, M.D., served in the US Congress from the 10th district of Georgia from 2007-2015. While in the 113th Congress, he introduced bill HR 2900, to repeal Obamacare. There have many bills aiming to repeal Obamacare. Former Congressman Broun rejoins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point for an update on the issue of repealing and replacing Obamacare. He feels strongly that neither the current House nor Senate versions adequately repeal and replace it. Dr. D. James Kennedy was the ultimate founder of this radio outlet, and Dr. Kennedy’s broadcasts had significant impact on Dr. Broun and his father, so the discussion begins with reminiscing on that impact. www.paulbroun.com

❖ In a previous broadcast of Vocal Point, noted syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin spoke about the case of, #DanielHotzclaw, an Oklahoma policeman behind bars that she feels was wrongly convicted. In her view he was essentially a sacrificial lamb thrown under the bus by his superiors to appease the social justice crowd around the time of #Ferguson. Convinced of his innocence and outraged by his sentence of 263 years, Michelle Malkin of CR-TV has championed his cause and makes a compelling case of reasonable doubt as to his conviction. Michelle Malkin rejoins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point for an update on the Holtzclaw case. www.michellemalkin.com

❖ America is irresponsibly racking up a debt that our children and grandchildren will have to pay. We now owe $20 trillion in national debt. Some experts note that if you break that down individually, it adds up to about $150,000 per person. Former U.S. Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma spent years in the senate fighting against government waste. Senator Coburn, who retired from the senate after serving two terms, served on the Simpson-Bowles Commission, where “Coburn worked on a proposal to reduce the deficit by $4 trillion over ten years.” WND Books has now released a book by Sen. Coburn, Smashing the DC Monopoly: Using Article V to Restore Freedom and Stop America's Runaway Government. Senator Tom Coburn joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss our #nationaldebt crisis and what we can do about it. http://wndbooks.wnd.com/smashing-the-dc-monopoly

This week on Vocal Point with Jerry Newcombe, (July 13 – July 19). LISTEN at 11:00 AM, 5:00 PM, 11:00 PM, 5:00 AM (Eastern) on www.GraceNetRadio.com.

❖ Should a gay baker be forced, against his conscience, to design a beautiful cake that helps promote a meeting of the ex-gays? Should an African-American printer be forced, against his conscience, to print up a poster for the KKK? The answer to these questions are, “Of course not.” Then why should a Christian baker be forced to create a wedding cake to celebrate a same-sex celebration that he does not agree with? The U. S. Supreme Court has agreed to take a case out of Colorado dealing with this very issue in the Masterpiece Cakeshop appeal. Terry Schilling, the executive director at American Principles Project, joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss what’s at stake in this case. www.americanprinciplesproject.org

❖ Sometimes Trump is likened to Hitler. Obviously, this is a ludicrous comparison. Dr. Richard Weikart is a professor of history at a California state college. He is also the author of some books on Hitler and the Nazis. His latest book is “Hitler’s Religion.” Dr. Richard Weikart joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss Hitler (his religion, was he a “man of the right”?, etc.) and comparing the Nazi dictator with the US president. www.darwintohitler.com

❖ Dehumanize some population, and you can end up exterminating them---even by the millions. In our culture, some forces try to dehumanize the unborn, and now we’ve seen about 60 million abortions in America since Roe v. Wade. But there is a new pro-life campaign to humanize the victims of abortion. This campaign is led by Eric Scheidler, the leader of Pro-Life Action, based in the Chicago area. Eric Scheidler joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this tasteful campaign to show that unborn babies have fingers and feet and faces, etc. www.prolifeaction.org

❖ A new book postulates that by dogmatically teaching Darwinism as a fact, we are not teaching our children the truth. Instead, we’re promoting what he calls “Zombie Science.” Dr. Jonathan Wells earned a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California at Berkley and a Ph.D. on Religious Studies from Yale University. Dr. Wells is a senior fellow with the Discovery Institute. He wrote the classic book in 2000 entitled “Icons of Evolution”---which shows how leading showcases for evolution turn out to be false, e.g., the peppered moths photos were staged, faked drawings of embryos, Darwin’s tree of life, Darwin’s finches’ beaks grow back to normal size when the rain comes back---thus, no net gain for evolution, etc. Dr. Jonathan Wells joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this problem of “Zombie Science.” www.iconsofevolution.com

This week on Vocal Point with Jerry Newcombe, (July 6 – July 12). LISTEN at 11:00 AM, 5:00 PM, 11:00 PM, 5:00 AM (Eastern) on www.GraceNetRadio.com.

❖ There’s a policeman in Oklahoma behind bars, Daniel Holtzclaw. He is in his 20s and was convicted of being a serial rapist in December 2015 and sentenced to 263 years in prison. But was his conviction fair and just? Syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin of CRTV has written extensively about the unfairness of the conviction. Michelle Malkin joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this case and why it should matter to the rest of us. (As there is some sensitive material discussed, listener discretion is advised.) [A repeat] www.michellemalkin.com

❖ Was George Washington a Christian and why does it matter? Dr. Peter Lillback is the president of Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. In a real sense, he is the modern heir of Rev. John Witherspoon, the president of Princeton during the era of American Independence. When Princeton rejected the historic Christian faith in the early 20th century, Westminster was born to carry on Princeton’s important work. Dr. Lillback joined forces with Jerry Newcombe to produce the 1200-page book on the faith of our first president, “George Washington’s Sacred Fire.” Peter Lillback joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to answer the questions, “Was George Washington a Christian and why does it matter?” [A repeat] www.providenceforum.org

❖ Every once in a while, a supposed historian will try to claim that Jesus never existed. But Dr. Mike Licona, author of a massive book on the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, says this is historical rubbish. Dr. Licona, who has debated non-Christians on the historicity of Jesus and the Gospels and the resurrection, teaches theology at Houston Baptist University. Dr. Mike Licona joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss how Jesus’ historicity can be established by ancient sources. www.risenjesus.com

This week on Vocal Point with Jerry Newcombe, (April 6 – April 12). LISTEN at 11:00 AM, 5:00 PM, 11:00 PM, 5:00 AM (Eastern) on GraceNetRadio.com.

❖ What happens when a young person is reared in the faith but turns away for fame and fortune? Such is the case for pop singer, Katy Perry. Alex McFarland notes: “Katy Perry was raised in a Christian home, but has made references about turning away from the faith, especially as she rose to fame and has been in the spotlight more.” Alex McFarland is a Christian apologist and author of 18 books, including his new book “Abandoned Faith: Why Millennials are Walking Away and How You Can Lead Them Home” (co-written by Jason Jimenez). Alex McFarland joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss lessons for parents in the Katy Perry type story.
www.alexmcfarland.com

❖ The church is not all called to serve as Good Samaritans, helping those in need, but also to be Watchmen on the wall (Ezekiel 33). So notes author and book editor, Charlie Rodriguez, who has produced several books, including a 2-part series (so far) on the threat of an ever-expanding government at the expense of religious and civil liberties---STATISM I and STATISM II. Charlie Rodriguez joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss, “Speaking Truth To Church, State, & Culture.” www.tanglewoodpublishing.org

❖ Lee Strobel was an atheist who worked as a journalist at the Chicago Tribune. When his wife started going to church, he wanted to win her back to their blissful state of unbelief. So he set out to use his journalistic and legal skills (he graduated from Yale Law School) to debunk Christianity. After studying for 2 years, he ended up getting saved (on November 8, 1981, 2 PM Central time). He wrote about his spiritual quest in the mega-bestselling book, “The Case for Christ,” and now his story is going to be a major motion picture---opening April 7, 2017. Brian Bird is the scriptwriter and co-producer of the new movie. Brian Bird has written the scripts for about 20 produced movies and many television episodes, including for “Touched by an Angel.” Brian Bird joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss the new movie, “The Case for Christ.” www.thecaseforchristmovie.com

❖ David Daleiden is in trouble again. This is the young man who founded the Center for Medical Progress, which produced a series of shocking videos that document that Planned Parenthood has apparently been trafficking in baby body parts---which they have sold for profit for research. But if you don’t like the message, shoot the messenger. David and an assistant are in legal trouble again. The state of California is coming after them with 15 felony charges. If convicted, they could to prison. The Thomas More Society is a Christian legal group helping David in this and other cases. Matt Heffron, an attorney with the Thomas More Society, joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this case and what’s at stake. www.thomasmoresociety.com

This week on Vocal Point with Jerry Newcombe, (Jan 26 – Feb 1). LISTEN at 11:00 AM, 5:00 PM, 11:00 PM, 5:00 AM (Eastern) on www.GraceNetRadio.com.

► How did extreme environmentalism fare in the recent elections? Stephen Moore, FreedomWorks Senior Economic Contributor, comments: "The biggest loser on election night was the Big Green movement in America dedicated to the anti-prosperity proposition that to save the planet from extinction we have to deindustrialize the U.S. and throw millions and millions of our fellow citizens out of their jobs." Steve Moore, author (along with Kathleen Hartnett White) of the book, Fueling Freedom, joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss energy and environmentalism and the new administration. www.freedomworks.org

► A consortium of “evangelical and mainline Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish scientists, economists, legal scholars, policy experts, and religious leaders” have written an open letter supporting Donald J. Trump’s nominee for EPA Administrator. Dr. Cal Beisner of the Cornwall Alliance helped put this group together. Dr. Beisner joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this important issue. www.cornwallalliance.org

► Dr. Michael Brown is a Christian author, educator, and talk show host. He discusses with Jerry Newcombe the idea promoted by some liberal evangelicals, including Tony Compolo, of “Red Letter Christianity.” The idea there is that only what Jesus said---as found in some Bibles in red letters---is what really counts as the Word of God. Dr. Brown refutes this false either/or. www.askdrbrown.org

► The real Obama Legacy is the topic of discussion with Jerry Newcombe and Genevieve Wood, Senior Fellow in Communications and Senior Contributor for The Daily Signal, Heritage Foundation. Genevieve produced hosted some powerful (and critical) videos on Obama’s real legacy domestically and in foreign affairs. www.heritage.org

This week on Vocal Point with Jerry Newcombe, (Jan 19 – Jan 25). LISTEN at 11:00 AM, 5:00 PM, 11:00 PM, 5:00 AM (Eastern) on www.GraceNetRadio.com.

► Can abortion cause psychological problems for the woman who chooses it? Headlines about a recent article in the JAMA Psychiatry seemed to indicate the answer is no. As Michael J. New, a writer for National Review and a visiting professor at Ave Maria University, put it: “The media spin is that abortion does not significantly increase the risk of adverse psychological outcomes.” But Dr. New disagrees and takes exception with the reporting of the study on which this media spin was based and explains why to Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point. www.nationalreview.com

► A significant new book has come out by a leading scholar on issues related to Hitler and the Nazis. Dr. Richard Weikart is a professor of history at the Stanislaw chapter of California State University. Perhaps most famous for his landmark book, From Darwin to Hitler, now Professor Weikart has written the book Hitler’s Religion. Richard Weikart joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the religious milieu in pre-Nazi Germany and how theological liberalism which undercut true faith in Christianity helped indirectly pave the way for Nazi Germany. www.darwintohitler.com

► Public relations expert Tom Ciesielka explains six simple ways that we can share the pro-life message and potentially save babies. Tom Ciesielka joins Jerry Newcombe to explain these and how one person can make a difference for good. www.tcpr.net

► The pro-abortion rights advocates likes to claim that they want abortions to be “safe, legal, and rare.” I would note the last one is a disingenuous goal on the face of it because of the financial gains. But how safe is abortion? Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue recently wrote an article about one facility in St. Louis, entitled “You’ll be Shocked by How Many Violations Inspectors Found at a Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic.” Cheryl Sullenger joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to explain her disturbing findings. www.operationrescue.org

► Why can’t the West come to grips with radical Islam? How many Jihadist attacks must occur before they wake up? Robert Spencer, director of jihadwatch.com, joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the recent attack in Berlin and this common phenomenon. Why won’t our leaders connect the dots between Islamic teaching (at least some interpretations thereof) and these ongoing attacks? www.jihadwatch.com

► History professor Richard Weikart of the California State University, Stanislaus, is the author of the classic book, From Darwin to Hitler. Now Dr. Weikart has written Hitler’s Religion Richard Weikart joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss this subject. On rare occasion some on the left will claim that Hitler was a Christian. But that canard shows how uninformed they are. www.darwintohitler.com

► Historian and author Rod Gragg is a journalist. His latest book is on those brave men and women who hid Jews from the Nazis and in other ways helped victims of Hitler’s henchmen. The book is called My Brother’s Keeper: Christians Who Risked All to Protect Jewish Targets of the Nazi Holocaust. Rod Gragg joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss these often-unsung heroes of World War II (and earlier). www.rodgragg.com

► Mark Beliles is an author and pastor ministering in Charlottesville, Virginia. For years he has been studying the religion of Thomas Jefferson (and James Madison). Dr. Beliles and Jerry Newcombe co-wrote a book on our third president’s faith (or lack thereof, at least in later years), entitled : The Religious Life and Legacy of Thomas Jefferson. Mark Beliles joins Jerry Newcombe to discuss the common myths that Jefferson was a lifelong skeptic and that he wanted all religious expression banned from the public arena. www.doubtingthomasbook.com
