Teachers often say they learn the most from one another. Luckily, technology today now helps us connect more easily, and educators don’t have to feel isolated. Join us for Education On Air, a free conference with no travel -- all you need is a web browser and an Internet connection to learn with other educators! #GoogleEduOnAir http://goo.gl/wSYlMU

Fantastic!!!!

What does one do with Chromebook boxes after rolling out a 1:1 program? Build a castle!  Take a look at the awesome construction job by two terrific library educational assistants. Inner wall was created using the actual boxes, outer "Bricks" were made from the inserts from within the boxes.

This is a huge step forward for all teachers who want to use Hangouts in their classrooms, but were limited because of the age limit imposed by Google+

Hangouts now supports any Google Apps customer account
We've heard from educators that multi-way video calling would be a useful tool for learning. It would help students connect with experts and with each other, and would help educators teach remotely and collaborate with their peers. So starting today, Hangouts video meetings support any Google Apps customer account (http://goo.gl/L5xha4), including those without a Google+ profile. Google Apps customers can start or join a high-definition video meeting that connects 15 participants from their computer (and coming soon for mobile and tablet). Multi-way calling will also be available if you’re using Google Talk.

To help you get started, we’ve put together 10 ways to use multi-way video calling in class: http://goo.gl/93b1c4. We can’t wait to see how you’ll use this new feature.

We know how important it is that schools have absolute confidence in the security of their data, which is why we are delighted to announce that the results of our collaboration with the UK Department of Education have resulted in the UK Department of Education's Cloud Service Providers checklist.
The mission of this checklist is to make it easier for schools that are moving to the cloud to understand the issues of data security and protection and ensure that their service providers meet certain standards.
Our responses— thoroughly reviewed by the Department of Education—can be accessed in full here: goo.gl/ahoxcV

For all those in the Netherlands...

Hi everyone,
[Short version] Exciting news! You may have heard of the Google Teacher Academy before, or maybe you've meet a Google Certified Teacher and thought that you might like to take part in one of these events.. well now is your chance! Over the weekend we opened applications for the Google Teacher Academy, and even better, we will be hosting the first ever Dutch-language GTA in Amsterdam on November 4&5!
To apply, visit google.com/edu/gta and click on "Registratie". Competition for places is fierce, and the application is long, so I would recommend getting started on your application as soon as possible! The deadline for applications is September 22nd.

+Katie Williams +Arco de Bonte +Warren Apel might be able to share their experiences of the GTA!

[Loooong version]
More questions? I've tried to answer a few FAQs below, but please leave me a comment if it's not clear :) Please do share this with any of your friends who might be excited to apply also!

What is the Google Teacher Academy?
The Google Teacher Academy (GTA) is a free professional development experience designed to help primary and secondary teachers from around the globe get the most from innovative technologies. Each GTA is an intensive, two-day event during which participants get hands-on experience with Google tools, learn about innovative instructional strategies, receive resources to share with colleagues, and immerse themselves in a supportive community of educators making impact. In the application process, we look to find the most innovative, most creative, most inspiring teachers from the whole country to take part.

Why should I go?
To learn more about using various technology in the classroom, to connect with like-minded teachers and to develop your skills on all things Google. We hold a small number of Google Teacher Academies every year, and numbers are limited, so you will be part of a small but influential group.

When/Where is it happening?
The GTA is happening on November 4&5 at the Google Amsterdam offices (Amsterdam Zuid)

How do I sign up?
Places are limited, so we there is an application process. You can complete the application form available on the main GTA page (google.com/edu/gta). Applications are now open, and will close on September 22.

I am really excited to have a Google Teacher Academy in the Netherlands, and would love to see you here!

Cormac helped us move on November 1st 2012, and it was the best choice we could have made! For previous house moves we had rented our own van, but VanTasks was not only so much less hassle, it also worked out cheaper than renting a van for a few days! The van is also so much bigger than what we would have been able to rent, and Cormac was really helpful and efficient. We moved in less time, and for lower cost than what we had estimated. I would definitely recommend Cormac and VanTasks.

Bewleys makes some of the best coffee in Dublin! Always go upstairs for coffee though, not into the main restaurant area. They make a great carrot cake too :)

Go to the cafe, not the restaurant; the menus are equally amazing, but Roly's Cafe has amazing prices. Loved the tapas desserts :) Will be going here as often as my diet allows :)
