Lauren and Garrett's wedding was featured on the front page of Style Me Pretty and we can certainly see why. Gorgeous. #sentinelhotel

When this bride’s Nana surprised her with a pre-wedding gift that included a pearl necklace and blue garter, she was overjoyed. But when the bride learned these two pieces were worn by both her Nana and mother on their wedding days, it made them all the more special. Thanks to Sweetlife Photography for a peek inside this […]

Chelsea and Shane were married on a rather blustery November day at one of our favorite urban venues, Coopers Hall in SE Portland. They chose a palette of ivory, blush and navy, with lots of greene…

I attend a monthly professional luncheon at the Sentinel and have for the past few years, since back when it was called the Governor Hotel. The hotel is conveniently located next to the streetcar alignment, which I take from my office to get to the hotel. There's also a convenient Starbucks located in the lobby. We meet in the conference rooms on the second floor and the room décor is pretty stunning. The food and service is great as well. The hotel has these cosy little corridors that I find so cute and chic that I wish my home was decorated the same way. I've never stayed in a room, bit would definitely love to try it out sometime.

We had our wedding at the Sentinel Hotel in the Renaissance room and our reception in the Grand Ballroom. Initially we wanted to have an outdoor wedding, but we were so impressed with the beauty and character of the hotel that we chose to have it at the Sentinel. We worked with Julie Weiss, the Social Sales Manager, and she was very helpful and accommodating to our wedding. We saved a lot of money on decorations because both rooms were already beautiful. The hotel staff was very courteous and professional. They even remembered our names and that we were there for our wedding. They made sure our room was clean and ready for after the wedding. We were given a bottle of champagne as a sign of congratulation. A high priority for us was the food. And Jake’s Catering delivered on that priority 100%. All of our guests were very impressed by the quality of the food. The catering and Sentinel staff were all very professional, polite, and accommodating. On our wedding, they made sure that the bride and groom were well fed, hydrated, always had a drink in hand. They were very good about saving and setting aside food and desserts for us before our guests ate all of it. We felt very taken care of, despite how hectic it must have been for them with all the guests we had. We would highly recommend going with the Sentinel hotel for a wedding.

Went to the Sentinel to enjoy the bar with friends. Overall, a nice place to visit with a wide variety of drinks and cocktails available. Ambiance is relaxed with a flair toward the age of Edison and Tesla. The bar features self serve water which is a bonus when quite busy, and the bartenders were knowledgeable and prompt.

Full disclosure, I work with a company that helped renovate this in the early 90's, and managed it post re-opening until it sold in the early 2000s. If you are just a casual tourist or local, please do yourself and take time to go inside and observe the murals. They are beyond magnificent, and tell a wonderful story about the history of the area and the Natives that came before us. The hotel itself is a historic gem, and worth a personal walking tour to just see all the beautiful nooks and crannies that tell many tales of history in the town. This used to be two buildings that were united during the early 90's renovation, and it's become, what I consider, a national treasure. It's a can't miss, it's beautiful... and it straddles this WONDERFUL line of elegant, historic, interesting, hip, with a great location, unbelievably appointed rooms for the cost, GREAT value... and it is my absolute definition of the iconic Portland hotel. It's diverse, fun, classy, without being stale or boring. There are too many hotels that are trying too hard in that town... and this simply is what it is: a historic gem that is the go to place for a fantastic modern suite, a drink, or just a stroll through an interesting and iconic lobby. It's my go to place, and every single other prop in the area has a long way to go to convince me otherwise.
