E-commerce drives the practice of "showrooming," driving bricks & mortar stores out of business. Social media and social commerce, on the other hand, have a more balanced effect. In fact, it turns out Pinterest, in particular, is actually driving a reverse-showrooming effect: people want to hold and touch Pinned items before buying them, and that's driving them back into real-world stores. http://lnkd.in/6nDMMh
