A great day with S.A.L.V.E. International who visited the Gooii offices this week, who we are proud to sponsor for their amazing charity work supporting children to stop living on the streets in Uganda with all the dangers that brings. They do this through support, love, family reunification and education.
Some of the stories are truly heartbreaking but others of where their team have helped save lives are so uplifting. If you wish to help them in their amazing work get in touch with SALVE International today.

This week Magic Leap announced the release of the SDK (Software Development Kit). This allows developers, like Gooii, to start creating amazing, realistic experiences using their revolutionary headsets. Our R&D team have been busy working away with the toolkit to see what amazing new services we can give our clients.

Magic Leap One is a retro-looking pair of black, goggle-like glasses which will mix digital images with reality. This gives an extremely realistic experience and is comfortable to view for a long time. This amazing technology involves the re-creation of light fields, which are the patterns created when light bounces off an object.

Based in South Florida they have been working secretively on their headset technology. An initial concept shown in late 2014 included impressively rendered animals that genuinely appeared to exist in the same room. Powerful computers created the images rather than a head-mounted display at that time. However, with their £1.5BN funding they have now shrunk the technology down to a comfortable, wearable size.

An exciting aspect of this technology is that we can now delivery group alternative reality experiences. Consider if you are in a museum you can have a Star Trek style holodeck room. Visitors can all wear headsets, enter the empty space and start to explore multiple augmented reality experiences and interact together. Alternatively, those with interests in historical battles on land or sea can visit locations and view live overlays of battle movements and historical facts.

Watch an amazing example of how a school could provide these rich experiences https://youtu.be/GbpqwUUfMAQ

Gooii Nottingham Crowned VR Award Winner at 2018 VR Expo Awards

Nominated alongside global institutions such as the BBC and Guardian Media Group, our groundbreaking Virtual Reality app DriveVR was crowned #VR Award Winner in the 'Immersive Education & Training Award' category. Gooii also received a nomination in the 'Immersive Story Telling Award'.

We're very proud to win this award. Couple this with an independent report that concluded DriveVR influences behaviour change and will save lives, we are also bursting with pride.

Commissioned by Safer Roads, part of Warwickshire and West Mercia Police Force, DriveVR uses immersive #VirtualReality. Key to this is an interactive timeline concept to modify the behaviour of young drivers. #DriveVR aims to reduce road accidents and save lives. DriveVR also scored highly during in-depth user testing and feedback sessions.

If you would like to discuss a #VR development for your company please come and see us.

Gooii Awarded Royal Armouries Website & Blog Redevelopment

The team at Gooii are delighted to announce they have been awarded yet another major contract in 2018 for the new Royal Armouries website and blog project. Gooii exceeded the technically challenging tender requirements against some of the biggest design/UI/UX/web/ software agencies in the UK.

This award accompanies the status of being the incumbent supplier for the RA Collections Site developments. A solution based on CIIM architecture, with PHP framework for page rendering with the search interface in React JS drawing object data from an Elasticsearch index. All content is aggregated from the museum's collections management systems, providing the best in terms of speed, performance and page visibility.

This new site will be built using bespoke WordPress templates, allowing the Royal Armouries to be self sufficient and provide the capability in-house to manage all content from within the familiar WP environment.

Proud to receive nominations for best Immersive Education & Training Award and Immersive Film & Production Award at The 2018 VR Expo for our work on the innovative road safety app Drive_VR!

We are up against some major competition with the Guardian and BBC R&D in our categories. That could prove to be a bit awkward as the BBC are one of our clients.......a nice problem to have I guess!

We also have some very interesting independent research to publish soon that proves Virtual Reality presented in a innovative approach and not just a video can influence and change behaviour, but that's another post.
