Eud Briel: What I think is there's a separation between the real world and what we read. Even thought what we read is factual , physics par example, there is a struggle in myself to associate quickly what I read to the real life.
Last week I made a little experience cutting a yamme into a cone, then into a conic section (an ellipsis) I checked mathematically if that was an ellipse and it in fact was! (I tought Wow, I have an ellipsis which is the tragectory of the earth around the sun comming from a yamme :D)
But I noticed other thing when I did that, the formulas and the cartesian plane instead of being a subject of study for me, turned into real tools for solving my problem, I mean I made a connection between what I learnt in Vectors and Analitic Geometry class with real life (even throught I knew where a conic come from, how it behave, even tought I could see it on the paper, I really never stopped to thinking looking at the book and saying hey, this is really a ellipsis, and if I take a scale and measure, I can show to myself that it's trully a ellipsis and it mantain it's properties.
I think this app will be great for students seeing the science working, it will be dynamic, but I hope it won't take the opportunitie of them seeing the science in real life, because even tought it's trivial but I don't know about you, but I really enjoy seeing the truth in front of me.
