Remembering D-Day.

Today on google.co.uk we remember the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The Normandy landings, codenamed Operation Neptune, were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy, in Operation Overlord, during World War II.

On the +Google Cultural Institute you'll find archives from the time including letters, photos, and maps of the Normandy landings: http://goo.gl/1RvU5w

Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few

+James King - Originally quoted by Sir Winston Churchill after the Royal Air Force successfully fought off the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain in 1940. :)

"Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well-trained, well-equipped and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely."

"Old soldiers never die. They just fade away."

- US Army General Dwight David Eisenhower.
(D-Day, June 6th, 1944.)

one of my fav battle in WW2, doesn't mean i love and support war, but i like the story behind it, there are bravery, patriotism, and many more.

"Sure, we want to go home. We want this war over with. The quickest way to get it over with is go get the b@@@@@@s who started it. The quicker they are whipped, the quicker we can go home. The shortest way home is through Berlin or Tokyo. And when we get to Berlin, I am personally going to shoot that paper-hanging son of a b@@@@ Hitler - just like a snake."

- US Army General George S Patton.
(D-Day, June 6th, 1944.)

"Like so many of our people, we have now had a personal experience of German barbarity which only strengthens the resolution of all of us to fight through to final victory."

- His Majesty King George VI.
(September 1940.)

+James King I think you will find that was a different battle !
DDay was 6th June 1944 and battle of Britain (where that saying came from) was on 15th September 1940, four years earlier !!!
