Sometimes music is meant to be listened to on your headphones. But other times, it’s meant to be heard in HiFi sound in every room of your house. Today, we’re launching a new feature that lets you play music directly to any Sonos speakers from within the Google Play Music app on your Android phone or tablet.

If you have +Sonos, all you need to do is download the latest Sonos Controller app ( Make sure your phone or tablet is on the same wireless network as your Sonos. A cast icon will appear in the upper right corner of the Google Play Music app ( Simply tap it and select the Sonos speaker where you want to play your music. Voila! Perfect sound in any room of your house.

You can build a playlist, create a radio station from any song, and add, reorder or delete songs straight from Google Play Music. Also, if you prefer to use the Sonos Controller app, Google Play Music is now also offered as a service there.

At last, but will it allow multiple rooms/sonos players or just one?
Why not for denon wireless receivers. IT WORK FOR I PHONE, I PAD ETC WHICH I HATE
Would love to stream music to multiple Chromecasts!
Oh man....are you going to make me spend money on speakers now!  :-)  I despise headphones. To me great music needs to be heard via speakers so you can feel it as well. Now I need to research Sonos speakers.....
Cast icon?   Does this mean that Sonos supports Google Cast as a receiver?
I thing that is a most fantastic idea!
Wonderful! I was waiting for EXACTLY this!
Only if the nexus 5 had better audio quality for headphone jack and apt x for bluetooth audio
I've been waiting for this moment for a very long time....Thank you.
WTF blue ststusbar? Noobs at photoshop...
Congratulations. I immediately went to look up pricing on +Sonos speakers.
Well having just bought a chromecast and HDMI to audio converter to be able to cast Google Play Music to my Sonos I now have a spare chromecast. I do wonder why they chose to take the casting approach rather than baking support into Sonos app like other services. It means you can only cast to one device at a time. What if you want different music on different devices?

+Adele Bailey oh right, that's good. Sorry everything I'd read seemed to indicate that it was controlled through Play Music App. I'll experiment when I get home.
And sometimes you don't live in America and have to buy an iphone because Google music doesn't work in your country because google hates you
Doesn't seem to work on the beta, just the Play Store version
This is excellent! Now if Audible would get on board so that I don't have to use inline or stream from a computer, I would really be happy. :-)
I still need a desktop client before I could realistically switch from Spotify
+Leeland Miller I know you can do that, but there's just something some much more 'proper' about an actual program. Don't have to deal with accidentally navigating away from the webpage etc. I know it might not make sense to some of you, but I would much prefer a proper installed application for the job.
+Dane Jones I feel you. I've been dreaming of an actual desktop program for Gmail forever. The closest you can get is Gmail offline, but its just so ugly, it looks like an iOS mobile app haha. So yeah, don't hold your breath, Google likes their shit online like that unfortunately.
Nice! How about supporting Chromecast with Music app? :-D Would be nice to stream directly to CC from any Android device.
Are these speakers worth it? They're so expensive...
No one care about Sonos, make streaming open for all DLNA devices.
Now if I could just get it to play through my Jetta's bluetooth system... That'll play an iOS device just fine, but I use Android and it always refuses to recognize that my Android has a media player.
Now if only Google Play Music was available in Indonesia I would've stopped buying from iTunes..
Sad that Google have implemented a closed proprietary protocol, when DLNA push does the same thing and is open and standards ratified.
DLNA would have been awesome. Airplay would have been cool. But Sonos? I don't think that I will replace my speakers or my receiver each time one comes around with another proprietary protocol. Epic fail.
For DLNA there is already an app : cast-to-DLNA. I use it to stream play music to xbmc. On the xbmc machine there's eventghost running which based on the sent event from xbmc, turns on the AV receiver via usb-uirt :)
+Mahdeen Vakhshoor yes, there are apps which can stream to DLNA or Airplay devices (I'm quite happy with AllPlay). But in my opinion these apps are just workarounds for a missing feature in Android.
Guess I know what I'm about to invest in
Very cool! Only reason I don't have Sonos! Well that ... and Google Music isn't available in Denmark even though it is available in the other Nordic countries >.< (and most of EU).
+Casper Hjort Wilson umm that's one of Chromecast primary function, you could do that from day one. Movies, music and YouTube. Think you need to learn your devices functions before you get into this speaker stuff lol!
Does it stream direct from Google Play servers or does it go via your phone and scoff battery? And does it support gapless playback (unlike the Chromecast).
Waited long but it is perfect! I love it "es ist genial"! I can play Google Music from my tablet with the Google app and switch from my phone with the Sonos app at the same time.
Bagai msn .cara upgrade play store
Finally the reason to get a sonos! Good to see them all working together. Good job !
