2016 Launch Update

We would like to confirm that the GOMC 2016 will start in January and finish in June. We are currently working on improving online infrastructure of the Challenge as well as simplifying the crediting process.

The product focus of the Challenge will remain the same, therefore please refer to the currently available guidelines at and learning resources at to prepare your team(s).

Each Team Captain will be required to provide only one email address to register, access team's dashboard and request access to AdWords competition account.

Available in more countries
The 2016 GOMC will be also available to Students and Professors at Higher Education Institutes in Hong Kong, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan and Ukraine.

AdWords Certification
Students and Professors will also get an opportunity to become AdWords certified. This will require to pass the AdWords Fundamentals exam and one of the other AdWords exams.

Good idea to simplify the registration process since we had some problems with the procedure last year. Also would be nice if per default a professor can manage more groups

Meet our 2015 GOMC MEA regional winners! We hosted them at the Google Dublin HQ last week and thoroughly enjoyed our time with the students, who are from Bilkent University in Turkey. Important Challenge Reminder: The 2015 Challenge closes 12 hours from now, TONIGHT (May 27th) at 3AM PST. After this deadline, you will no longer have access to your dashboards, so you need to ensure that your Post-Campaign reports get uploaded before 3AM.

This deadline is firm and we will not be able to make any exceptions, so we encourage you to submit your reports in advance of the deadline so that you do not forget.

A big congratulations to our Americas regional winners from James Madison University! Pictured are Morgan Mackenzie Moore, Dan Froehlich, Lauren Crain, and Brea Zeise. The students study under Professor Theresa B. Clarke. We loved meeting them last Friday and showing them around the Googleplex in Mountain View. Not only did these teams win the Americas region, but they were also the second place winners in the AdWords Social Impact Award category. A round of applause for this awesome team!

On Friday we hosted the 2015 GOMC Europe regional winners at the Google Dublin HQ. The team represents the German University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, where they study under Professor Mario Fischer. Their team includes Thomas Kraus, Dimitri Schneider, Ramil Schweizer and Kristoff Gras. We had a great time exploring the office with them and hearing their presentation. Congratulations, team!

Here is the latest response I received about the GOMC when I recently inquired.

The 2016 GOMC will not begin until after October.  We hope to announce the final dates on the GOMC G+ page and website in the coming weeks.

Welcome to the 2014 Google Online Marketing Challenge

The Google Online Marketing Challenge is a unique opportunity for students to experience and create online marketing campaigns using Google AdWords and Google+. Over 65,000 students and professors from almost 100 countries have participated in the past 6 years.

With a $250 AdWords advertising budget provided by Google, students develop and run an online advertising campaign for a business or non-profit organization over a three week period. The teams that develop and communicate the most successful campaigns win awesome prizes, including trips to Google offices. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the optional Google+ Social Media Marketing category by creating and managing a Google+ Page for their clients over a five week period.

The Challenge is open to student teams of three to six members from undergraduate or graduate programs, regardless of their major. All students must register under a verified faculty member, lecturer or instructor currently employed by an accredited higher education institute.
