Now that the 2016 GOMC campaign window has ended, a lot of you will be logging in to your student dashboard to upload your post-campaign report. Please remember to login to the student dashboard using the dashboard email address you originally registered under as a team captain and not the competition email address that you were assigned to login to your team's AdWords account, otherwise you will receive a 403 error.

Please contact onlinechallenge@google.com if you have any specific questions.

No sense contacting the GOMC team; they'll send you to AdWords support. The GOMC team is just for competition related items, not general AdWords queries.

With the 2016 Challenge coming to an end, you may be wondering how you can help your client continue running AdWords on their own. As noted on the GOMC website, the advertiser cannot run any other campaigns in the competition account, but you can use AdWords Editor to download your campaigns and send them as a file to your client to upload to a newly created account. See the GOMC website for more details!

Hi +Saurabh Gupta,

Common sense suggests that teams spending close to the entire budget should outperform teams that do not spend close to the entire budget. But Google does not share the algorithm specifics other than info on the judging process.

Less than one week until professor registrations close for the 2016 Challenge. If you are a professor and you haven't registered yet, make sure to do so before April 6, 2016, 3am PST.

+Jamie Murphy, thanks for your time. Yes, that partially answers my question but I'd like to know whether the given budget will be the fixed sum of Rubles or will be depended on the exchange rate at receiving date. Actually, this is not so critical, but this small information can help us make better plan. Thank you!

Hi Everyone,

We hope your 2016 GOMC reports are coming together nicely. For those of you participating in the Google+ Social Media Marketing portion of the Challenge, please note the following information about submitting your Google+ pre-campaign reports:

1) You can start the 5-week Google+ campaign prior to submitting the AdWords pre-campaign report

2) You must submit your Google+ pre-campaign report prior to beginning your Google+ campaign, even if you haven't submitted your AdWords pre-campaign report yet

3) If you are submitting your Google+ pre-campaign report prior to receiving the CID for your AdWords competition account, please use your client's name in the file name of the report as follows: preG+-[YOUR GOMC PARTNER'S NAME].pdf

Please reach out to onlinechallenge@google.com if you have any questions.

Thanks +Jamie Murphy The team managed to upload the report without a problem.

However, now that all the teams have received crediting, one of the teams is seeing a red alert in their account saying that "account is exhausted" but the account information shows $250 in credit. Any thoughts on what may be happening? Thank you.

Reminder: The 2016 GOMC campaign window ends on May 18th at 3:00AM PST. All teams should make sure their campaigns are paused in AdWords before this deadline. Campaigns will not be deactivated automatically. Teams will still be able to access their AdWords accounts after this date to assist with writing their post-campaign reports, but ads should not be serving after this deadline in order to remain eligible for the competition.

Please reach out to onlinechallenge@google.com if you have any questions.

Hi Everyone,

We have been receiving some questions about the AdWords Crediting Window found on the GOMC Website. To clarify, team captains have up until April 27th 3:00AM PST to request crediting. Google will honor credit requests up until this deadline, however, since the crediting process can take up to 5 business days to complete, we highly encourage students request crediting at least 5 days prior to the deadline in order to take full advantage of the 21 day maximum campaign window. Keeping in mind that the campaign window ends on May 18th 3:00 AM PST.

Remember that campaigns which serve impressions on less than 7 calendar days or on more than 21 calendar days in total will be deemed ineligible for the competition and as a result disqualified. You can reference the full list of Terms & Conditions on the GOMC website.

Please reach out to onlinechallenge@google.com if you have any questions.

Hi Professors,

We hope that you and your teams are off to a great start with the 2016 Challenge!

We noticed that a few of you are experiencing issues, receiving a 403 error page when trying to access your professor dashboard. This can occur in two different scenarios:

1) You have not been approved for participation by Google yet. If it has been over 5 business days since registering, please reach out to onlinechallenge@google.com.

2) If you have been approved and are still receiving a 403 error, it is likely because you are logged in under your university email address, instead of the Google account you registered with, also known as your dashboard email address.

If you are trying to complete the verification process for student teams registering under you, make sure to copy the link provided in the verification emails sent to your university email address and paste them into a new tab that is opened in a browser where you are logged in to your Google account (dashboard email address) in order to complete the process.

Please email onlinechallenge@google.com if you have any questions.

Introduction
Welcome to the Official Google Online Marketing Challenge G+ Page!

Welcome to the 2014 Google Online Marketing Challenge

The Google Online Marketing Challenge is a unique opportunity for students to experience and create online marketing campaigns using Google AdWords and Google+. Over 65,000 students and professors from almost 100 countries have participated in the past 6 years.

With a $250 AdWords advertising budget provided by Google, students develop and run an online advertising campaign for a business or non-profit organization over a three week period. The teams that develop and communicate the most successful campaigns win awesome prizes, including trips to Google offices. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the optional Google+ Social Media Marketing category by creating and managing a Google+ Page for their clients over a five week period.

The Challenge is open to student teams of three to six members from undergraduate or graduate programs, regardless of their major. All students must register under a verified faculty member, lecturer or instructor currently employed by an accredited higher education institute. Visit Discover GOMC to learn more about the Challenge and how to participate.

On this page, you will find the latest GOMC news and updates, as well as AdWords best practices and tips, competition highlights, hangouts on air, and much more. We always encourage questions and comments in the comments sections of our posts. Given the volume of feedback we receive, we may not be able to respond individually to every comment, but rest assured we are paying attention, and are always eager to hear from you.

You can find more information and register for the Challenge on our GOMC website at http://goo.gl/HpOuZ.
