Sun Surveyor uses augmented reality to overlay the paths of the sun and moon on a camera’s view, so you can see where in the sky they’ll be at a specific time and place. Photographers can use it to plan their shots ahead of time, and businesses can use it to gauge things like how best to align solar panels to make the most efficient use of the angle of the sun.

The app uses multiple Google Maps APIs, including the Elevation API, Time Zone API, Google Maps SDK for iOS and the Street View Image API. For details, hear from Sun Surveyor creator, Adam Ratana:

New! Intro video on Google Earth Engine, our planetary-scale geospatial analysis platform

Google Earth Engine is Google's tool for analyzing petabytes of information about the Earth and its environment.  We use it to create images like the base image for Google Earth and the Google Maps satellite view, and you can use it too. This video describes Earth Engine, presents some examples of how it's being used, and introduces the tools you'll use to perform your own geospatial analyses.
