For both breaking news and obscure information, people around the world search for information on Google. What follows is a summary of Google Zeitgeist results for the top gainers on when comparing search queries that have risen by the largest percentage for the week of June 27-July 3, 2014.

1. Niat puasa/Berbuka puasa/Ramadhan 2014*
Muslims in Malaysia searched for how to make `niat’ for fasting and breaking fast during the month of Ramadan.

2. Perpaduan Kaum
Form 3 students used the Internet to complete their history assignment on ‘perpaduan kaum’ or racial unity for the Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) national exam.
3. Solat Tarawih Sendirian
People searched on how to perform this special prayer during Ramadan alone, if they don’t have the opportunity to perform it at a mosque congregation.

4. Ander Herrera
The Spanish midfielder becomes Louis van Gaal's first signing as manager at Old Trafford and has penned a four-year deal with the Red Devils.
