Hello, Kansas City! Google is holding a special event on Saturday, July 12 at the National World War I Museum to highlight the new +Google Cultural Institute partnership with the Museum.

The World War I Museum joins 400+ Cultural Institute partners. It's the Cultural Institute’s second partner in Missouri (the Nelson-Atkins Museum is the first), and its first non-art museum in the state.

Mayor Sly James will be attending and speaking, and the event is open to the public. We'd love to see you there!

RSVP by emailing ci-events@google.com. If you have questions, please call Debbie Bass at 816-888-8106 or dbass@theworldwar.org.

Disgusting... It was being held up by the local government. Keep up the good work, Google, I know I'll never see fiber in my city, but you're making a difference and that's more important.

100 times faster than Google Fiber? Touché, U.S. Department of Energy!

Many scientists spend their lives investigating things that will make our lives better in the future, but what happens when today's technology slows them down? Imagine working with massive amounts of data for projects like the Human Genome Project and having to send your findings back and forth in hard drives via snail mail.

Well, not anymore. The DOE's "ESnet" connects scientists across the U.S. at a whopping 91 Gbps! Now that's fast. And a future of fast Internet is something we're really excited about.

http://www.wired.com/2014/06/esnet/
When Google chief financial officer Patrick Pichette said the tech giant might bring 10 gigabits per second internet connections to American homes, it seemed like science fiction. That’s about 1,000 times faster than today’s home connections. But for NASA, it’s downright slow.

At up to 1000 Mb per second, Google Fiber is 100 times faster than today’s average broadband, allowing you to get what you want instantaneously.
Introduction
The official G+ page of Google Fiber

Think it's crazy speak to claim 100 times faster Internet? Actually, according to Akamai's State of the Internet 4Q2011, the average American only experiences speeds of 5.8 Mb/sec, while Google Fiber offers up to 1,000 Mb/sec download and upload. Service not available in all areas. If you're already cruising mighty fast on the Internet, the actual increase in performance you experience may differ.
