L'Oréal Canada finds beauty in programmatic buying
/via +DoubleClick  #analytics   #doubleclick

"While global sales of L'Oréal Luxe makeup brand Shu Uemura were booming, reaching its target audience across North America proved challenging. By collaborating with Karl Lagerfeld (and his cat, Choupette) and using DoubleClick Bid Manager and Google Analytics Premium, the campaign delivered nearly double the anticipated revenue."

Basic Reporting Automation with Google Analytics
/via +LunaMetrics  #analytics   #marketing

"I like Google Analytics. I don’t need to understand a theorem on binomial sum variance inequality to do fairly complex digital marketing analysis. The product is easy to use, even for me, an adult who could not tutor a 9th grade math class. In other words, Google Analytics is not the problem for me or any of the marketers with whom I work.

This post is constructed on the premise that the biggest barrier to routine marketing analysis is reporting. Reporting is time consuming. Reporting is monotonous. Reporting is that thing that most marketers need but (very!) few marketers want to do."
The biggest barrier to routine marketing analysis is reporting. Here are a few automation tactics that will make reporting painless and simple.

No way would I trust my domains with Google. I use to have an adsense account. Only made the $100 minimum once and that took years. Life happened and I lost my PC and didn't get internet back for months. I finally get everything at home running but after the bad life thing happening I gave up on my sites. The server was paid monthly by credit card automatically, same with my domains.

I just lost all interest in them. Well it seems someone or thing found my site and clicked every link on the pages over and over for days... When adsense sent me the email telling me my account was banned for invalid clicks I had the server place reset my root password and I  reset all my account passwords and looked at the logs. Yep random IPs from all over the world hitting my site and pages over and over.

I explained all of the above to the adsense person and my appeal was denied. I suggested they remove any amount "owed" to me and I would remove the codes from ALL of my sites until I  started working on the sites again. Nope. Account banned for good.

No way I would trust them with any domain of mine. Whats to stop them from blocking you domain once it becomes popular and some government/person gets it taken off you because they don't like it?

New Embed API demo

We've just added the Server-side Authorization demo to the Google Analytics Demos & Tools site.

Check it out: https://goo.gl/Gd19Jq

Authorizing the Embed API server-side allows you to show visualizations of your Google Analytics data to users without granting them access to your Google Analytics account or asking them to log in. #GADevs

Getting Even More Intimate with Your Users: Google Analytics Custom Metrics
/via +Marketing Mojo  #analytics   #marketing

"Google says, “Custom metrics are like default metrics in your Analytics account, except you create them yourself. You can use them to collect and analyze data that Google Analytics doesn’t automatically track.” Maybe you don’t give a flip about pageviews, but there is some other important and measurable interaction your visitors have with your site."
Sessions & pageviews -- these are measurable interactions your user is having with your site. Awesome! But what if you want to measure something completely different?

How to Track 404 Errors Using GTM v2
/via +Rick R. Duncan  #gtm   #analytics

"Using Google Tag Manager v2 and Google Analytics, I’m going to show you how to easily monitor visits to your error 404 page. The data we’ll be capturing includes the page we couldn’t find along with the referral information so you will know where the link to the 404 page is located."
Not only is it very annoying for your website visitors to hit a 404 error page on your website, it can have a negative impact on your organic search rankings. Correcting 404 errors is critical to a...

Google Analytics-Driven Game Development by Example
/via +Gamasutra  #analytics   #gamedev

"A few months ago my friend and I performed something like a gamedev experiment. It was 'just create a trashy game, update it as frequently as possible and make it better based on users’ and Google Analytics’ feedback'. We didn't want to spend 6 months on developing another game that will get stuck among thousands ofother games on Google Play. Moreover, we didn't have as much as 6 months. It was more like a quick execution of a half-witted idea. We wanted our game to evolve based on the user feedback and our conclusions."

How the Best Marketers are Using Analytics to Create Competitive Advantage /via +Forbes  #analytics   #marketing

Two of the hottest topics today, from the classroom to the boardroom, are Big Data and Analytics. There is a recognition that firms that do a better job of collecting, assimilating, analyzing, and using data have a built-in advantage versus their competitors. Yet, if your firm doesn't have a competency in analytics, it's difficult to figure out how to create one. To better understand how companies can become more adept at leveraging analytics to ...
