Our Doodle of the day celebrates Earth Day 2015!
Check it out. Clicking on this year’s Earth Day logo (or searching for “Earth Day quiz”) presents one of the Internet’s favorite pastimes: a totally scientific and 1,000% accurate personality quiz. Take the time to answer a few questions to determine and share your Earth Day animal. And, of course, you’re only a search away from learning more about nature’s precious pals and interesting inhabitants.

Today we are thrilled  to unveil #RobbenIsland on. You can explore the Island from the comfort of your phone.
"Walk in the footsteps of Mandela" - focus on Robben Island and create an immersive guided tour experience by overlaying audio and video clips from Mandela, Ahmed Kathrada (fellow prisoner, living) and Jack Swart (Mandela's prison guard, living) onto Street View, recalling their time on the island, anecdotes and observations about their struggle for freedom.

What is the point of reading about these foot steps, if the South Africans are acting like they never learning anything from their blood laden history themselves. Or, killing and raping their fellow African from other parts of the continent at will like the calamity we are watching on a television screens all over the globe?

Tip of the day
Ask Google to send an SMS for you without ever touching your phone. You can say things like "Text Ade" or "Send a Hangout message to Cynthia".
Google will then ask you to speak the message.
Try it!

Getting people online in Africa
Introduction
Mission

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.

Google Sub Saharan Africa (SSA)

The Internet is a powerful source of information. Google's strategy in Africa is to get more users online by developing an accessible, relevant and sustainable internet ecosystem.
  • Reducing access as a barrier to all potential users
  • Making the Internet relevant and useful to Africans
  • Helping strengthen an Internet ecosystem in Africa that is vibrant, and sustainable and self-sufficient in the long-term
Our Google+ Page

The Google Africa team will be sharing interesting information about our events, product launches and other activities in the region.  We may from time to time post information from other places which we think you will find interesting and useful.

We hope that you'll find the content and interactions here fun, engaging, interesting and most importantly, valuable.

We want your feedback so don't be shy to tell us what you think and how we can do better.

Look out for open hangouts with Googlers on the team.
