Gnostice StarDocs On-Premises 2017 R1 released

Gnostice wishes you a happy new year!

We are pleased to announce the 2017 R1 release of the Gnostice StarDocs On-Premises edition. With this release we are moving out of beta as StarDocs has been in production use for many months now. The R1 release brings many new features and enhancements. It introduces support for Microsoft DOC format and significantly enhances the support for DOCX page elements. With this release StarDocs now supports DOC, DOCX, PDF and image (BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG and TIFF) formats. We have also enhanced the fault tolerance logic while loading PDF files so now partially corrupt files can be loaded successfully. The Administration Console now supports additional functionality for server license management and API keys management. This release also includes a demo webapp that showcases the features of StarDocs.

HTML5 and JavaScript apps - Utilities for everybody

This quarter, our .NET team has got out great releases of the XtremeDocumentStudio .NET product with the richer HTML5 Document Viewer. There’s more great stuff in the works. While that work goes on, the team decided to publish some of the jQuery/JavaScript modules, developed for use inside the HTML5 viewer, as free utility libraries for everybody. They took time out to write about the libraries. The libraries are available with source on GitHub. Here are the blob posts about the libraries with all the details:
* jQuery Popup Box library - a useful utility library to display popup dialogs on various events:
http://www.gnostice.com/blog/291/jQuery_Popup_Box_library

* Async Event Dispatcher - Event Dispatcher utility class to trigger asynchronous event handlers (coded in TypeScript):
http://www.gnostice.com/blog/287/Async_Event_Dispatcher

Please have a read and tell us what you feel. If your friends or colleagues are into this work, feel free to share it.

Gnostice XtremeDocumentStudio .NET 2016 R3 Released

The impressive new HTML5 Document Viewer is released! You can test it live at:
https://demos.gnostice.com/html5/documentviewer.aspx

To learn more about using the Document Viewer, let us take you through the steps in the getting started article:
http://www.gnostice.com/nl_article.asp?id=286.

We have also written an article on the new capability to enable text search on images. Please have a look here:
http://www.gnostice.com/nl_article.asp?id=376

What did we do
After almost two years of the first release of the web document viewers it was time to bring all our learnings together and relook at the web viewers from the ground up. That's exactly what we did for the new XtremeDocumentStudio .NET R3 release. We relooked and also rebuilt the web viewers from the ground-up.

The outcome
- An even more extensible architecture for implementing new features to come - interactivity and editing.
- Optimal sharing of modules and code across HTML5, MVC and Web Forms viewers.
- Optimization of server-side and client-side document processing for high-performance, improved text search experience, and responsive UI support.
- All document level operations now return JQueryPromise() object to get status info. Useful for sanely implementing asynchronous client-side code.
- Lots of new APIs in the form of methods, events and properties.
- On-the-fly OCR of images to enable text search on scanned image documents.
- TypeScript support and much more...

It was all focused on giving the end-user a great document viewing experience.

There's major work being done at all layers of the new Document Technology we are building for everybody to get work done with documents: The core processing engines, the viewers/editors, the converters, the document builder objects and more. You will see all of this released incrementally at a 2-3 week frequency.
