Hebrew calendar now available in your Google Calendar

If you use the Gregorian calendar, it seems like Jewish holidays fall on different dates every year. That’s because Jewish holidays follow the Hebrew calendar, a lunisolar calendar used by many Hebrew speakers around the world that bases its months on lunar cycles and its years on solar cycles. Starting today, you can display Hebrew calendar dates alongside Gregorian ones in Google Calendar on the web. To enable it, go into Settings and select “Hebrew calendar” as an Alternate calendar under the General tab.

Great feature, been looking for something like this for awhile.

No more having to go to hebcal every few months? Awesome!

Good work. it would be appreciable if google can extend the same for Islamic calenders as well.

The Hebrew Calender is synchronous with the Maya Calender.

Great! Now if you could just add support for yearly events accruing on the Hebrew date that would be great. Right now when you set an event to repeat every year you can only go by the Gregorian calendar.

+Michael Lavi hebcal hasn't outlived its usefulness by a long shot! Not if you want the days of sefirah, parshat hashavuah, candle lighting times localized for your zip code etc.

For all the anti Semites out there complaining that this is a "bad idea" or what not: Google has a star date calendar. Nuff said

For those of you who want other calendars, I encourage you to use Google Calendar's Send feedback function (on the menu for the gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the Google Calendar page) to send your requests directly to the Google Calendar team. That is the most effective way of requesting new capabilities.

Hi +Jan Guerrero. Issues like the one you described require some discussion. Your best bet would be to post a question in in the Gmail Product Forum (productforums.google.com/d/forum/gmail) so the Gmail Top Contributors (the Gmail experts) can work with you to solve the problem.

+Gmail Hi; how can I get the latest design update to my E-mail account? Help please!

Hi +Ahmad Abd Allah. You automatically get the latest version of Gmail every time you access it via the web interface (gmail.com). Some features roll out over a few days or weeks, but you don't have to do anything to get the most recent update available for your account.

This is Great thanks! Can you add this for the android app as well?

Great Google but it's not finished:
1) you should add the Jewish holidays
2) You should add option to make annually reminder that follows the Jewish Calender.
3) Add this option to the Android Calender app.

Thanks!

Hi +Jati Rinawan. Google almost never discusses when our even if they will provide applications they have not announced.

Thanks for the info John Skeats, you are absolutely right about Google- I am still reeling from all these completely unwarranted changes- I had everything set up ( almost perfectly) the way it was- " If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Hi +Lev Titievsky. I encourage you submit those suggestions to the Google Calendar team directly by using Feedback on the Calendar website or in the Calendar app.
