Check out the Walkthrough for the new Palm Mute Piano Library by Paper Stone Instruments.http://www.sampleism.com/paperstoneinstruments/palm-mute-piano
The PaperStone grand piano has been meticulously sampled using finger dampening techniques in short (staccato), sustained and pedalled articulations at 3 velocity levels, with 5 microphones.
Recorded in Studio 2 of Paper Stone Studios in Nottingham, UK (a converted cinema auditorium dating back to 1914)
The incredible acoustics of the room are down to 3 factors:
-An arched ceiling, which acts to reduce standing waves.
-A false floor covering the old seating platforms, which acts as a bass trap.
-Engineered acoustic treatment (rock wool screens and baffles)
The following gear was used:
Close - C414 B-ULS, API 3124MB preamp, Prism converter.
Stereo - Neumann KM184 matched pair, Focusrite ISA preamp, Prism converters.
Room - Matched pair of Neumann U87 AI, API 3142MB preamp, Prism converters.
