Was up early working on my next blog post. Should go live early this week. An important one considering the changes Google is implementing and the latest announcements. Includes how to use one of my favorite tools to help. I'll be sure to share it here once it's live. :)

Google suspends Reviewed Claims fact-checking feature in Knowledge Panel. Google is working on improving the feature before (possibly) relaunching it.

"We encountered challenges in our systems that maps fact checks to publishers"

Tough to compete w/out its own phones -> Amazon brings voice control to its Alexa app for Android, with iOS coming soon.

"The addition of voice commands means users can speak directly to their handset the way they would an Echo"

Whoa, I saw this notice in my News Feed today. It's about the News Feed algo changes where Facebook will be prioritizing updates from friends and family over content from Pages.

I barely caught the fine print in that notice. I have blown up the last line so you can read it. ;)

Important news from +Aaron Bradley. I recommend checking it out especially if you are using structured data for recipes, articles, and podcasts.
Google confirms in feature guides that recipes, articles and podcasts may be turned into Google Assistant actions

Today this starred call-out box on the Google Search documentation feature guides for Recipes (http://bit.ly/2EXSCOB), articles (http://bit.ly/2EX4Neu) and podcasts (http://bit.ly/2EYxHL5):

By structuring your content according to this guide, your content may be automatically turned into an action on the Google Assistant. You can learn more about Content Actions on the Actions on Google docs.

Won't go into further detail here, as this confirms what I wrote at length about on 9 Jan., where my TL;DR summary reads, "if you've employed Google-prescribed structured data markup for recipes or news articles, or Google-prescribed RSS for podcasts, this content is already eligible for inclusion as a Google Assistant Action."

Killer new feature. I've been testing this for a few weeks :) -> Free Majestic Backlink Data for Everyone In DeepCrawl (so you can surface urls w/links that have issues).

"The URLs returned are prioritized based on the # of linking domains each one has."

For example, you can surface redirecting URLs with inbound links, broken pages, disallowed URLs, pages with inbound links, but no links out, and non-indexable pages with inbound links. Again, great addition from +DeepCrawl

Via +John Mueller When using hreflang, YES, you should add rel canonical to each url in the cluster (self-referencing). It's also important to NOT canonicalize those urls to other urls. The urls must be indexed for hreflang to work properly: (at 54:39 in the video)
