In a 2 week period after losing the featured snippet, my client lost 39K+ visits to the page. So I dug in to learn why that happened. The competitor that stole the spotlight came out of nowhere... so I analyzed page structure, content quality, inbound links, social metrics, and more.

The other interesting thing is that I can't seem to find a certain format or styling that they prefer or that helps to identify the answer for the snippet.  They are pulling them out of paragraph text, headings, image caption, ordered and unordered lists, and just about anything else on the page.  It makes it really hard to test and discover what is working because almost anything Google finds valuable could generate it.  I've been researching a bunch of them and can't seem to find any consistencies in the content or what part G uses for the snippet.

I cover this with clients all the time. You are the expert (and you have experts on your staff). That's who should be writing your content, not random writers who lack the expertise to product killer content in your niche.
While almost anyone can be one form of a content marketer or the other, not everyone should be. Simply starting and maintaining a blog is a tremendous undertaking. And really, unless you have an area of expertise to cover, your content will probably get lost in the endless glut of the over-saturated world of content marketing. Universal Music Q2: $1.4B revenue, $138M earnings with 34% increase in subscription & streaming services during 1st half of 2015.
Universal, whose results were reported as part of its parent company Vivendi, had $2.6 billion in revenue for the first half of the year and $255 million in earnings.

I've used K&H twice in the past year and I highly recommend their services. They were professional, knowledgeable, and extremely efficient. I dealt with both Rocco and John, who were a pleasure to work with. Their quality of work was extremely high, and you could tell they were passionate about what they do for a living. And I dig working with people that fit into that category. In a nutshell, I hated that my cars needed to be fixed, but I thoroughly enjoyed working with Rocco, John, and everyone else at K&H. I hope I don't need the help of a collision center in the future, but if I do, it'll be K&H. :)
