My latest -> How To Identify A Mobile Rankings Demotion Using The New Search Impact Report in Google Webmaster Tools #seo

With the mobile UX algo rolling out on 4/21, my latest post about the new Search Impact report is important. In my post, I explain how to use the "Devices" dimension to compare rankings across desktop and mobile by query. That can help webmasters identify the smartphone rankings demotion.

The new Search Impact reporting is in alpha now and I've been testing it heavily over the past few weeks. I fully expect Google to roll it out prior to 4/21 due to the awesome functionality for dimensioning by device.

Part 2 of My Series: Song Lyrics Hit The SERPs: Analyzing Google & Bing Traffic To 5 Large-Scale Lyrics Sites [Case Study] #seo

That's my first post on +Search Engine Land which covers the Google and Bing impact of song lyrics being presented directly in the SERPs. My first case study focused on Google, and my latest digs deeper with Bing. And there are definitely differences in how each engine handles lyrics in the SERPs. You should check it out if you're interested in learning how traffic could be impacted when you end up competing with the Knowledge Graph.
Many have noted that 2014 was a bad year for lyrics websites, but contributor Glenn Gabe set out to quantify the impact of search engines displaying song lyrics directly in the results pages. Read on for his findings!

I don't believe it's real-time Sal. Something isn't lining up with the latest Panda updates in the fall of 2014 and the lack of movement since the 10/24 update. It could be... but I doubt it at this point. Just my 2 cents. :)

It wasn't that reliable to begin with and didn't really index well so I think this a good move.  I've been trying to implement that setup for a while now and it's very tricky to do on big sites that have established infrastructure or framework.

Google Regarding Mobile Rankings: Some factors like page-speed signals for ranking are based on the desktop version, not the mobile version via +Barry Schwartz #seo

And that will be the case even after the mobile UX algo goes live on 4/21. But Google is experimenting with changing that.
Having a slow or fast mobile site should not impact your mobile-rankings, assuming your desktop site is fast. Google still uses many desktop signals for mobile ranking, even after April 21st.

When the mobile friendliness algo arrives on 4/21, you'll want to use the new Search Impact reporting in GWT to compare desktop with mobile rankings. Here's how the "Devices" dimension works.  #seo

I've used K&H twice in the past year and I highly recommend their services. They were professional, knowledgeable, and extremely efficient. I dealt with both Rocco and John, who were a pleasure to work with. Their quality of work was extremely high, and you could tell they were passionate about what they do for a living. And I dig working with people that fit into that category. In a nutshell, I hated that my cars needed to be fixed, but I thoroughly enjoyed working with Rocco, John, and everyone else at K&H. I hope I don't need the help of a collision center in the future, but if I do, it'll be K&H. :)
