Hi Dan:
Just read both of your posts on equipment. I've done some podcasting and have a new one in the works. I'm using the Rode Podcaster (also have a Sure S57),  a Behringer mixer and Audacity on a Macbook Pro.

Previous podcasting was me doing what amounted to a radio news report. Now though I plan to do interviews - but 95% will be people overseas, so likely done via Skype. What are your thoughts on an inline compressor - like your DBX (now to be found for about $50 used) vs software compression thru, in my case Audacity?

And is there a podcast you could point me to that uses primarily Skype interviews? Obviously shipping a microphone overseas is not practical. One friend, a podcast producer, suggested the JK Audio BlueDriver to do smartphone interviews thru the board?

I have great hopes for this new show (who doesn't?) and like you, want the listening experience to be as clean as possible. You've given me a lot to think about and digest. Thanks!
