Introduction

Bragging rights
My granddad once sailed on a ship with Sir Ernest Shackleton in 1918 at the end of WW1. He saw the Northern Lights in Norway on the trip, wrote all about it and sent the letter back home to his wife. I appeared on Radio 4's Tracing Your Roots programme discussing this letter. Shackleton's biographer, Roland Huntford said it was a very important document and should be sent to the Imperial War Museum.
