I already have Debian GNU/Linux on many machines, from desktops to servers to embedded appliances.
I already run Mate 1.8 on my work desktop and laptop.
I knew of Debian GNU/kFreeBSD since some yeasrs, but I am getting more interested now.
Because, you know, kFreeBSD is "systemd-free".
So, my plan-b for the future is kFreeBSD if Linux becomes totally infected by systemd.
Even if Debian GNU kFreeBSD is said to be in bad shape, it is really great and fully working and I suggest everybody to have a look at it.
And... apt-get install popularity-contest
