Founded in 1972, the not-for-profit Geva Theatre Center is the most attended regional theatre in New York State, attracting over 160,000 patrons each year.   With two theatres (the 530 seat Wilson Mainstage and the 180 seat Fielding Nextstage), Geva produces stage productions utilizing nationally-known directors, actors and designers with the support of more than 50 full-time Rochester-based staff.
Our Wilson Subscription season runs from September through June every year while in the Fielding Nextstage, the Studio Series Subscription runs from January through June.  Geva is proud to have been chosen the Best Theatre in Rochester from both the readers of the Democrat & Chronicle and Rochester City Newspaper for many years.

In addition to full productions, Geva hosts the Festival of New Theatre, The Hornet's Nest play reading series, playwright development workshops with local and regional playwrights, and much more.

Geva's educational outreach programs inform and entertain over 16,000 elementary, middle and high school students.  Teachers are provided study guides for the show their students will attend; in-school workshops and visits from professional designers and actors; and the opportunity to have a talk-back with the cast and crew following the production.

LITTLE SHOP of HORRORS: I was appalled by the volume of the sound, right from the pre-play announcements to the music. Starting with the trio (whose voices were probably excellent) who became shriller by the measure seemingly due to excessive treble. In fact, they were so loud and shrill that we could not understand the words most of the time. And then there was the band, who seemingly had to play fortissimo 100% of the time. Very disappointed in your production, which was probably good, if only I did not have to cover my ears half the time. I thought that musical theater was supposed to have some subtlety and variable dynamics, not a constant blast of sound.

I thought BLACK PEARL SINGS was wonderful---well written and beautifully acted. Let's have more like that on both stages.

I have enjoyed every show I have ever been to at Geva. This theater is nice and cozy, not a bad seat in the house!

Professional theater experiences in a small-theater atmosphere. I see several shows a year here both with my family and on student field trips.
