It's no secret that I love cranberry and orange together, so it was about time I turned this perfect combo into a smoothie bowl! Instead of the usual granola, I used my Paleo Granola Dust which is pretty much my favorite cereal! These bowls take just minutes to make if you have granola/granola dust on hand. I keep a big batch in the freezer to make impromptu smoothie bowls, and to take along traveling to add to yogurt for an easy breakfast!

Bringing in a bit of sunshine with this Tropical Spinach Salad with Creamy Coconut Lime Dressing! It's always about the middle of the winter where I just start craving summer produce like crazy, and tropical salads seem to hit the spot!

I'm finally getting into the swing of things again following just over a week of bed rest after somehow re-injuring myself during the Christmas holidays. It's been a crazy week with life piling up around me, but slowly my strength is coming back, and things are almost back to normal, (I'm even in the kitchen recipe testing again)! I still have my New Year's post coming albeit a little late this year, and lots of recipes to come, (check back tomorrow for this first one of the year). This photo was taken in Waterton Lakes National Parks on Christmas day right after I wrecked my neck, but before I knew there was anything seriously wrong. We squeezed one last little hike in during our holidays, up Bears Hump to overlook the townsite of Waterton just in time to see the last of the alpen glow touching the mountain tops with pink.

I like to save the truly outrageous titles for my most decadent recipes, and I promise this Life Changing Rosemary Mushroom Cream Sauce will not let you down! I recently took it to an early holiday dinner with family, and over dinner we were debating on whether this sauce should be called ‘life changing’ or ‘life altering’. And since we never came to a final decision, I’ll leave it to you to decide after you’ve made it! (I was joking around that I should call it ‘magical mushroom cream sauce’ because it’s truly magical. But you know… magical and mushrooms probably shouldn’t be in the same sentence.)

It's hard to believe this photo was taken just a couple of weeks ago as it's all buried under snow now. We had 4x the usual amount of rain this November, and it turned the forests into a mossy wonderland! (Extra credit points if you can spot Tyler in the photo.)

I've been missing our usual weekend adventures since I've been pretty much out of commission these last few weeks. But we're hoping to be off and running again this weekend, so stay tuned for lots more fun, and recipes to come throughout the week!

A wintery Waterton just before total darkness - I don't often photograph during what they call the 'blue hour' because it's just what it sounds like - everything is a deep blue right before true darkness falls, and it can look kind of weird. But this particular night I thought I'd grab a quick shot anyways since we couldn't stay long enough for the stars to come out, and I love how the photo turned out so different than anything I usually do. There's really only the two colors - blue and orange - in this photo, and it makes a great contrast in a simple yet tranquil scene.

It seems only right to start the new year off with a chocolate recipe! These Flourless Chocolate Peanut Butter Muffins are the perfect weekend baking project because they're not only simple and delicious, but they're also made from real food ingredients. I feel like I can barely put into words my thoughts when it comes to healthy eating, but if you had to sum it up it would be balance. There's no need to start the new year off with a bang of green salads and greens smoothies, only to wear out in a couple of weeks, (although I have a few good recipes for those coming as well). There's all kinds of way to work in healthier treats like these muffins that make the weekend mornings feel indulgent, and that feeling is perhaps my most effective way to maintaining a good weight. I hope you enjoy these, they were definitely a hit over the holidays, and they're a great way to use up overly ripe bananas!

I'm working on some treats for the New Year, because the beginning of the year should always have treats in my opinion! I know it's usually a time of dieting, and generally brownies are the last thing on everyone's mind - or the only thing on your mind if you're on a diet. But you probably know me well enough by now to know there won't be any dieting resolutions around here, just lots of delicious whole foods. So here's to looking into the holidays and a new year to come filled with goodies, and quality time with your friends and family!

I love new adventures and trying new foods, but there's something just as special about visiting places you love time and time again. And I never get tired of making our favorite comfort foods, especially in the chilly temperatures of winter. This photo is from Avalanche Lake in Glacier National Park, just a couple of weeks ago. No matter how many times I visit this lake, it's just as beautiful every time, with each season. I can't quite settle on what's for dinner tonight yet though, it might be a Chicken Caesar Salad (recipe is on the blog) or a simple pasta with lots of sautéed veggies and freshly grated parmesan. What's your go to comfort meal of choice?
